Reforestation Field Specialist

Location: Perth or Wheatbelt (preferably Central or Northern Wheatbelt)

Employment Type: full time with flexibility  (Full-time or Part-time, 3–5 days per week)

About the Role

Our client is delivering a project to achieve sustainable land use in rural WA, with the goal of establishing carbon farming and carbon credit opportunities for local landowners and ultimately contributing to Australia’s transition to the use of renewable energy.
We are seeking a Reforestation Field Specialist to support the establishment and operation of carbon plantings across the Wheatbelt region. This is a field-based role with some office work and flexibility for operating from a home base in the Central or Northern Wheatbelt. The position is ideal for someone passionate about sustainable land management, and with experience in broadacre agricultural enterprises, agricultural machinery operation, agroforestry or regional land management practices (preferably in the Wheatbelt of Western Australia)

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the Plantation Manager with the establishment and day-to-day operations of carbon plantings.
  • Conduct field activities including pesticide application, minor infrastructure repairs (fencing, gates, water pipes), and firebreak maintenance.
  • Perform site assessments (tree health, weed control, survival counts) and GIS mapping (desirable).
  • Liaise with landholders, local governments, and stakeholders throughout project phases.
  • Participate in bushfire response and manage contractors on-site.
  • Contribute to documentation such as operating procedures, safety analyses, and tender documents.
Experience requirements
  • Experience in broadacre agriculture, agroforestry, or regional land management (preferably Wheatbelt WA).
  • Demonstrated experience working on farming operations, including machinery operation and herbicide application.
  • Experience leading teams and being a proactive team member delivering works and managing contractors in rural or agricultural industry
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in remote locations.
  • Competency or willingness to acquire skills in First Aid, 4WD, Bushfire Response, Chainsaw Operation, ChemCert.
  • Understanding of WA WHS Regulations and practical application.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Computer literacy (Microsoft Suite, GIS applications).
  • Self-motivated with experience both working alone and as part of a team.
