Relay Tech

Key Responsibilities

• Commission and test protective relays including ABB Relion, SEL, and GE Multilin models.
• Perform functional testing of protection schemes: differential, distance, overcurrent, breaker failure, reclosing, transfer trip, etc.
• Conduct physical wiring verification and setup/configuration of LAN/WAN network equipment.
• Execute end-to-end testing using GPS-synchronized equipment.
• Use software tools such as SEL AcSELerator Quickset, GE Enervista URPC, Doble Protection Suite, and Cooper SMP Manager.
• Troubleshoot and mitigate inadequate protection scenarios in substations ranging from 480V to 345kV.
• Support SCADA checkout, startup, shutdown, and maintenance activities.
• Maintain detailed documentation including relay settings, test reports, and as-built drawings.

Required Qualifications

• Proven experience testing and commissioning ABB Relion, SEL, and GE Multilin relays.
• Strong background in vendor coordination, pricing negotiations, and material procurement in manufacturing or industrial environments.
• Proficiency in SAP for inventory, procurement, and maintenance workflows.
• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or nearing completion (within 6 months).
• Ability to interpret electrical schematics, protection logic, and control drawings.
• Strong communication skills—verbal and written—with customers and field teams.
• Willingness to travel extensively across domestic sites.
