Rotation: 28 days on / 28 days off
Project Type: FPSO Refurbishment / Life Extension / Brownfield Upgrade
Employment Type: Contract (Rotational)
Start Date: ASAP / TBC

Job Summary We are seeking an experienced Scaffolding Supervisor to lead and coordinate scaffolding operations on a major FPSO refurbishment project based in the Filyos shipyard. You will be responsible for day-to-day supervision of scaffold erection, modification and dismantling activities, ensuring all works are delivered safely, compliantly and to schedule, supporting multiple disciplines (mechanical, piping, structural, electrical, blasting/painting, insulation, etc.) in a high-activity shipyard environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong leadership ability, excellent safety awareness, and proven experience supervising scaffold teams in offshore oil & gas, marine, or shipyard refurbishment settings—ideally including confined spaces, hot work interfaces, work at height, and simultaneous operations (SIMOPS).

Key Responsibilities Safety & Compliance
  • Lead scaffolding operations in full compliance with site HSE requirements, work at height regulations, and scaffold inspection standards.
  • Ensure toolbox talks, risk assessments (RAMS/JSA), permit-to-work (PTW) requirements and daily briefings are completed and adhered to.
  • Stop work when unsafe conditions are identified; lead incident reporting and corrective actions where required.
  • Ensure all scaffold tags, handovers, access control and exclusion zones are correctly implemented and maintained.
Supervision & Delivery
  • Supervise scaffold teams (scaffolders/riggers/labourers), allocating labour and resources efficiently to meet daily priorities.
  • Coordinate scaffold access solutions to support multiple workfronts across the FPSO (topsides, modules, accommodation, tanks, pipe racks, flare/vent areas as applicable).
  • Plan and sequence scaffold activities in line with the integrated project schedule and SIMOPS constraints.
  • Liaise with construction, planners, QA/QC, lifting teams and discipline supervisors to ensure scaffolds meet operational needs and are delivered on time.
Technical Oversight
  • Ensure scaffolds are erected to approved designs/specifications; request engineered scaffold designs where required (complex scaffolds, load-bearing, cantilever, hanging scaffolds, stair towers, etc.).
  • Confirm materials are fit-for-purpose and inspected (tubes, fittings, boards, ladders, stair units, ties, netting, debris fans).
  • Maintain high standards of housekeeping and material control within scaffold laydown and work areas.
  • Ensure scaffold inspections are completed at required intervals and after adverse events (e.g., high winds, modifications).
Reporting & Documentation
  • Maintain scaffold registers, inspection logs, handover certificates, and daily progress reports.
  • Track productivity and man-hours; support forecasting and reporting to the scaffolding superintendent/construction management.
  • Identify constraints and propose solutions to improve safety and programme performance.
Required Experience & Competencies
  • Minimum 5+ years scaffolding experience with proven time as a Supervisor/Chargehand/Leading Hand on large industrial projects.
  • Demonstrable experience in at least one of:
    • FPSO / offshore oil & gas maintenance or refurbishment
    • Shipyard / marine repair, conversion, or heavy fabrication
    • Brownfield shutdown/turnaround environments with SIMOPS
  • Strong knowledge of scaffold systems, inspection processes, and safe work at height practices.
  • Confident leading multi-national teams in a fast-paced, high-risk environment.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills; comfortable with reporting and basic systems (email, registers, daily reporting).
