Senior Civil Designer

NES Fircroft is partnering with a leading engineering and project delivery organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Civil Designer for a Brisbane based assignment supporting a major new mining project. You’ll take a lead role in civil design delivery, 3D modelling, drawing production and design quality checking across earthworks, roads and drainage.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and coordinate civil design activities within a small civil/structural design team on medium-scale project work.
• Develop and deliver 3D models, drawings and supporting documentation for earthworks, roads and drainage.
• Prepare (or oversee) design estimates and work plans, then manage delivery against scope, schedule and budget.
• Review and quality-check drawings and sketches produced by designers/drafters, ensuring consistency to standards.
• Interface with other disciplines and client stakeholders to resolve technical issues, secure approvals and keep design aligned.

What you’ll bring

• 12–14 years’ civil design/drafting experience, ideally in multi-discipline project environments.
• Strong hands-on capability in MicroStation and OpenRoads (essential).
• Proven understanding of civil drafting/design practices, drawing interpretation and document control expectations.
• Experience coordinating across disciplines with exposure to 3D model oversight and interface management.
• Clear communication skills with the confidence to troubleshoot issues and guide/mentor junior team members.
