Senior Cost Controller

We are seeking an experienced Senior Cost Controller to join a renowned company in the mining sector. Reporting to the Principal Operations Projects, you will play a key role in cost management, forecasting, reporting, and supporting project teams to deliver effective project outcomes.

  Key Responsibilities

• Implement and maintain cost management systems, processes and procedures.
• Lead project cost and progress reporting to ensure accurate budget tracking, forecasting, cashflow, and performance analysis.
• Provide mentoring and support to cost controllers and junior team members.
• Manage key cost control activities including:
  • Value of Work Done (VOWD), performance measurement and cost phasing
  • Cost forecasting, estimating (ETC/EAC), and variance analysis
  • Progress and performance measurement using earned value management
  • Invoice review, validation, accruals and cost allocation
  • Management of change, including Project Change Notices and cost impacts
  • Purchase Requisition/Purchase Order support
• Oversee contractor progress, claims validation, and invoice verification.
• Ensure data accuracy between cost management systems and SAP.
• Prepare monthly cost forecasts, reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
• Facilitate cost forecast reviews with Project Managers and Directors.
• Support quarterly capital planning and manage cost-related project closeout.

About You

• Strong grounding in cost control, forecasting and reporting in the resources sector.
• Proven experience managing costs for mid‑ to large‑capital projects.
• Advanced Excel and MS Office skills, with exposure to cost systems and SAP.
• Analytical, proactive and a clear communicator.
• Comfortable working collaboratively across project, engineering, finance and operations teams.
