Senior Cost Estimation Engineer – Qatar

NES is working with its Oil and Gas client to hire a Senior Cost Estimation Engineer who will take ownership of delivering accurate, detailed cost estimates for onshore, offshore, and subsea projects. Your expertise will be critical in assessing project viability, managing budgets, and performing benchmarking through comprehensive estimates and risk analyses.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead cost estimation activities across all project phases using stage-gate project delivery methodologies.
  • Develop detailed and reliable cost models to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
  • Conduct risk analysis to identify and quantify cost uncertainties and impacts.
  • Perform benchmarking and data normalization to enhance accuracy and consistency of estimates.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams and external vendors to gather data and validate costs.
  • Monitor cost trends and provide regular reports to project control and management teams.
  • Drive continuous improvement of cost estimation processes and tools.
Required Qualifications and Skills:
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience in project controls, including at least 3 years focused on cost estimation in petrochemical or industrial projects.
  • Strong knowledge of stage-gate project delivery frameworks and advanced cost modeling techniques.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard cost estimating software and adherence to estimation standards and norms.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to liaise effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with benchmarking and data normalization methodologies.
  • Familiarity with both Brownfield and Greenfield project environments.
Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
  • Proven track record of delivering cost estimates for complex, large-scale projects.
Additional Requirements:
  • Fluency in English (written and verbal).
  • Strong interpersonal skills for teamwork and vendor coordination.
