Job Title: Environmental Advisor – Pipe Integrity Post-Construction Monitoring
Location: Calgary, AB
Length: 12-Month Contract to Start
Rotation: Mon-Fri – 8hrs a day


Description:
Reporting to the Manager, Post-Construction Monitoring, the Environmental Advisor – Pipe Integrity Post-Construction Monitoring is responsible for the execution and oversight of post-construction monitoring programs supporting pipe integrity, facilities, and decommissioning activities.
This role will lead the development and implementation of land conservation and reclamation monitoring strategies, oversee contractors and consultants, and work closely with Environmental Inspectors to ensure regulatory compliance and alignment with the client’s environmental policies and asset management objectives. The successful candidate will ensure post-construction commitments are met, monitoring plans are effectively implemented and required reporting and regulatory submissions are completed accurately and on time.
The position requires extensive collaboration with external stakeholders including regulatory agencies, Indigenous groups, and landowners, as well as internal, multi-disciplinary project teams. The Environmental Advisor will provide expert guidance to management on conservation, reclamation, and environmental monitoring matters affecting pipe integrity projects, and will propose, negotiate, and implement solutions in collaboration with post-construction monitoring resources and Environmental Planning and Permitting teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide technical expertise in land conservation, reclamation, and other relevant biophysical disciplines during post-construction monitoring activities
  • Oversee day-to-day management and direction of reclamation implementation projects and monitoring programs, including technical guidance, compliance oversight, and field support
  • Lead the implementation of pipe integrity post-construction monitoring programs, ensuring:
    • Compliance with regulatory and project requirements
    • Identification and evaluation of environmental risks and issues
    • Development of corrective actions and resolution strategies
    • Timely completion of monitoring reports and documentation
  • Develop scopes of work and support budget development for monitoring and reclamation activities
  • Conduct and oversee detailed field assessments and follow-up evaluations to confirm effectiveness of corrective measures
  • Maintain and update environmental tracking and mapping databases
  • Obtain and manage required environmental permits
  • Review and interpret technical soil, vegetation, and environmental assessment data to identify risks and establish mitigation and reclamation plans
  • Collaborate with internal teams including engineering, project management, land, community relations, Indigenous relations, legal, and safety to proactively identify and resolve environmental issues
  • Ensure compliance with all project commitments, regulatory requirements, and the client’s environmental policies and procedures
