A leading multinational manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Senior Material Planner to manage end-to-end material planning for an assembly-based manufacturing operation. This role is critical in ensuring the continuous availability of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies to support production efficiency, service levels, and cost optimization.
The position requires strong expertise in SAP MRP, cross-functional collaboration, supplier coordination, and inventory optimization within a fast-paced industrial environment.

This role is critical in ensuring the continuous availability of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies to support production efficiency, service levels, and cost optimization.
The position requires strong expertise in SAP MRP, cross-functional collaboration, supplier coordination, and inventory optimization within a fast-paced industrial environment.
Key Responsibilities
1. Material Planning & Inventory Control
- Plan, schedule, and manage materials to support assembly production based on the Master Production Schedule (MPS).
- Execute SAP MRP on a daily basis; review and adjust planned orders, purchase requisitions, and safety stock parameters.
- Monitor inventory levels, stock coverage, consumption trends, minimum order quantities (MOQ), and supplier lead times to maintain optimal inventory.
- Analyze slow-moving, excess, and obsolete inventory; coordinate corrective actions with procurement and production teams.
- Ensure uninterrupted material supply to assembly lines by proactively resolving shortages, delays, or quality-related issues.
- Collaborate closely with Production, Engineering, Quality, and Warehouse teams to support BOM changes, engineering revisions, and urgent requirements.
- Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and Engineering Change Notices (ECN) by ensuring material readiness and system accuracy.
- Work closely with Procurement to expedite critical materials and manage supplier performance.
- Participate in supplier communication for forecast sharing, capacity alignment, and delivery planning.
- Review and recommend improvements for supplier lead times, order quantities, and delivery schedules.
- Track and analyze key material planning KPIs including material readiness, inventory days on hand (DOH), service levels, and forecast accuracy.
- Perform root cause analysis on material shortages and implement preventive and corrective actions.
- Prepare weekly and monthly planning reports for management review.
- Identify opportunities to improve planning processes, system parameters, and material flow efficiency.
- Participate in or lead continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Kaizen, PFEP, or Kanban.
- Maintain a high level of SAP data accuracy across material master, BOMs, routings, and MRP settings.
Qualifications Education
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in material planning within an assembly manufacturing environment.
- Experience in electrical, mechanical, or industrial product manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Strong hands-on experience with SAP ERP (MM / PP modules).
- Advanced knowledge of SAP MRP, material master data, inventory transactions, and scheduling agreements.
- Strong Excel skills (Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP/VLOOKUP, formulas, and data analysis).
- Understanding of Lean Manufacturing, PFEP, Kanban, and inventory optimization practices.
- Strong communication and cross-functional coordination skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Able to manage urgent issues, prioritize effectively, and make data-driven decisions.
- Leadership mindset with the ability to guide and mentor junior planners.
