Location: Calgary, Fort St. John or Kamloops
Length: 1 year (with potential extension)
Rotation: Monday – Friday

Acts as a subject matter expert in measurement, gas quality, pressure control, and linebreak systems, supporting operations, projects, and stakeholders. May lead small teams, projects, or technical initiatives.

Role Summary
Provides senior-level technical expertise for measurement systems and processes in the Northwest Region. Acts as a subject matter expert in measurement, gas quality, pressure control, and linebreak systems, supporting operations, projects, and stakeholders. May lead small teams, projects, or technical initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as subject matter expert for measurement, gas quality, linebreak, and pressure control/overpressure protection (PC/OPP).
- Support the design, operation, upgrade, activation, and deactivation of meter stations and PC/OPP systems to meet regulatory, technical, and industry standards.
- Plan and support annual Measurement Canada regulatory requirements in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Develop and manage the gas quality program, including standards, procedures, reporting, and technical studies.
- Review and approve third-party PC/OPP designs and annual reports.
- Provide day-to-day technical troubleshooting for measurement equipment and data issues.
- Support Lost & Unaccounted For (LUF) performance to ensure tolerance is maintained.
- Perform technical calculations (e.g., blowdown, flow, and equipment sizing).
- Develop business cases, including risk ranking, cost estimation, and treatment options.
- Support the development and maintenance of measurement standards, specifications, and typicals.
- Apply Management of Change (MOC) processes equipment and system changes.
- Liaise with external customers, engineering firms, vendors, and regulators.
- Ensures compliance with applicable regulations, codes, standards, and industry best practices.
- Provides senior technical leadership and coordination to meet design, safety, budget, and schedule requirements.
- Contributes to operational safety, risk management, root cause analysis, and lessons learned.
- Enhance system reliability and efficiency through technology evaluation and lifecycle planning.
- Influences stakeholders on technical and cost-related decisions with minimal oversight.
- Relevant technical degree with 7+ years of experience, or 10+ years of measurement field operations experience.
- Strong knowledge of CSA, AGA, API, GPA codes and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Experience with natural gas measurement systems and industrial control devices (e.g., ControlWave, FB1200/FB3000).
- Proven ability to build relationships, influence without authority, and communicate technical concepts effectively.
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and coordination skills.
- Office-based with approximately 15% travel to field locations across North America.
- Occasional work outside regular business hours may be required.
