Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a major resources project team delivering large-scale, multidisciplinary mining and processing infrastructure. This is a key role within a major greenfield development, supporting the full engineering lifecycle from concept through to construction and delivery.
You will be responsible for defining mechanical scope, developing cost estimates, and leading the design and evaluation of mechanical systems and components across complex mining infrastructure. The role requires strong technical capability combined with leadership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to drive solutions to complex engineering challenges.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join a major resources project team delivering large-scale, multidisciplinary mining and processing infrastructure. This is a key role within a major greenfield development, supporting the full engineering lifecycle from concept through to construction and delivery.
You will be responsible for defining mechanical scope, developing cost estimates, and leading the design and evaluation of mechanical systems and components across complex mining infrastructure. The role requires strong technical capability combined with leadership, stakeholder engagement, and the ability to drive solutions to complex engineering challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver mechanical engineering work across design, development, modification, and evaluation phases on a medium-to-large scale project
- Develop and review mechanical design solutions in accordance with relevant engineering standards, codes, and procedures
- Produce and/or oversee mechanical discipline estimates, work plans, schedules, and scope definition aligned to project requirements
- Prepare conceptual and detailed designs for mechanical systems in complex mining and processing environments
- Provide technical direction and resolve complex mechanical engineering issues, communicating effectively with senior stakeholders
- Support cost estimation, manpower planning, scheduling, and progress reporting activities
- Interpret and apply industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements
- Engage with client and project representatives to obtain approvals and ensure alignment on technical deliverables
- Lead technical studies into new methods, materials, and engineering approaches
- Mentor and support junior engineers through technical guidance and on-the-job development
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or international equivalent)
- 10–13+ years of relevant mechanical engineering experience (or 14–17 years without formal degree)
- Strong background in mining, minerals processing, or heavy industrial projects
- Proven experience in slurry pumping systems, including hydraulic calculations, pump selection, and fluid network design
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems used in mining and process plants, including pumps, tanks, hoppers, and materials handling equipment
- Experience delivering mechanical design work within copper concentrator or similar processing environments highly regarded
- Knowledge of engineering design standards, construction methods, and project delivery practices
- Ability to interpret and apply relevant industry codes and regulatory requirements
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present technical solutions clearly
- Experience across multidisciplinary engineering environments and large capital projects
