We are partnering with a leading mining operations client to recruit an experienced Senior Project Controller to support a large and diverse portfolio of projects. This is a key role combining hands-on project controls delivery with team leadership and stakeholder engagement. FIFO to North Queensland from Brisbane, Townsville or Cairns on a 8/6 or 9/5 roster.

In addition to managing schedules and financial performance, you will provide guidance to a small team and ensure consistent project governance and reporting.

About the Role
You will play a critical role in overseeing project controls across a portfolio of approximately 130 projects, including several intermediate-scale initiatives. Key Responsibilities
Project Controls & Scheduling
- Oversee development and ongoing updates of project schedules (MS Project experience essential)
- Analyse schedule performance to identify risks, constraints, and improvement opportunities
- Monitor critical path, float consumption, and key milestones
- Identify and report potential delays and schedule impacts
- Support recovery and mitigation planning where schedule slippage occurs
- Provide clear schedule insights and reporting to project stakeholders
- Support oversight of a portfolio of ~130 projects, including minor works and intermediate projects managed by Project Controllers
- Provide guidance to a team of 5 (Project Control Officers, Project Controllers, and a Master Data Coordinator)
- Facilitate 3-week lookahead meetings with execution teams
- Lead weekly coordination meetings with delivery teams
- Contribute to monthly KPI reporting with management
- Oversee procurement and invoicing processes, including document control of quotes, invoices, and delivery dockets
- Manage budget forecasting and estimates using Anaplan
- Complete end-of-month activities including accruals, cost transfers, and labour allocations
- Identify inconsistencies, errors, and potential budget overruns, escalating to Project Managers as required
- Maintain purchasing and finance tracking systems
- Support finance change management processes
- Demonstrated experience in a Senior Project Controller or similar role within mining, resources, or heavy industry
- Strong proficiency in MS Project (essential)
- Experience managing multiple projects in a portfolio environment
- Solid understanding of project financials, forecasting, and cost control
- Exposure to Anaplan or similar financial systems (highly regarded)
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Detail-oriented with a proactive approach to risk and performance management
