Senior Water Resources Engineer – 12‑Month Contract Perth Based | Major Mining Operator | Large‑Scale Project Portfolio

NES Fircroft is supporting a major mining operator in appointing a Senior Water Resources Engineer on a 12‑month contract. This role will contribute to a broad portfolio of mine‑site and study‑phase projects across Western Australia.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced water resources specialist who enjoys complex technical work, hydrologic and hydraulic modelling, and influencing the design and performance of surface water infrastructure across large‑scale operations.

About the Role:
As a Senior Water Resources Engineer, you will work within a multi‑disciplinary engineering team to deliver technical assessments, hydrologic analysis, flood‑risk modelling, and water infrastructure design. You will play a key role in design assurance, project development and approvals processes.

Key Responsibilities:
• Collect and analyse rainfall, hydrology and surface water datasets to support assessments and investigations
• Complete hydrological studies and surface water infrastructure design (culverts, floodways, diversions, drainage systems)
• Provide technical advice on water resource management to influence design, construction and maintenance of engineered structures
• Undertake baseline and post‑development hydrology studies, stormwater design and flood‑risk assessments
• Support project engineers, environmental teams, approvals specialists, consultants and contractors
• Prepare scopes of work, technical specifications, design reports and supporting documentation
• Assist with water approvals in line with relevant legislation

About You:
• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering or related discipline
• Minimum 8+ years' experience in water resources engineering
• Proven experience in catchment hydrology, hydrological assessments, hydraulic modelling and stormwater management
• Proficiency with GIS and industry‑standard modelling tools such as RoRB, TUFLOW and HEC‑RAS
• Strong data management capability and attention to detail
• Excellent communication and technical reporting skills
• Experience with water licensing or RiWI Act requirements (advantageous)
• Experience in mining, engineering consulting or complex environments (highly regarded)
• Full Australian work rights required
