Software Support Engineer Location: Houston, TX
Schedule: Onsite Monday–Thursday, Work‑From‑Home Friday
Pay Rate: $52/hr

  Role Overview As a Software Support Engineer, you’ll play a hands‑on role supporting software updates and troubleshooting activities for in‑service drilling rigs. You’ll collaborate across engineering and service teams to resolve issues quickly, deploy updates, and ensure seamless system performance. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys fast‑paced problem‑solving, technical ownership, and working directly with internal and external stakeholders.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead troubleshooting efforts and drive technical issues to full resolution.
  • Provide clear, timely updates to internal teams and customers.
  • Support front‑end software tasks including UI/UX elements.
  • Configure hardware and perform basic networking setup.
  • Build automation tools to improve code quality and streamline development.
  • Support QA processes and assist in updating production servers (local + cloud).
  • Review interfaces, logs, and tools to diagnose issues and perform data reconciliation.
  • Participate in Agile development cycles (requirements → testing).
  • Conduct lab testing for software releases.
  • Load, update, and maintain hardware configurations.
  • Prepare documentation and handover packages for product teams.
  • Provide DevOps support for ongoing maintenance and improvement.
  • Assist with various requisition and support tasks as needed.
What You Bring
  • Bachelor’s in Electrical, Controls, or Computer Engineering or 6+ years of directly relevant experience.
  • 3+ years of professional experience in software support, development, or related engineering roles.
  • Strong programming experience in Java, C/C++, JavaScript, HTML5, Python.
  • Database experience with MySQL (required); PostGreSQL or NoSQL a plus.
  • Exposure to cloud services such as AWS or Azure.
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools (Git, Maven, CI/CD, automated testing, Agile platforms).
  • Experience with frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, AngularJS, JBoss/Wildfly (nice to have).
