Department Description and Responsibilities
The Civil Project Engineer takes technical leadership over civil construction projects while simultaneously managing (part of) their execution. This combined role requires a strong technical foundation and basic project management experience. The ideal candidate is a hands?on engineer who can independently drive projects and proactively manage risks.

Project Description
The engineer will be assigned to industrial projects with a significant civil scope, supporting both process and infrastructure teams. The projects include both new construction and renovation of existing installations. The role requires close collaboration with internal teams and external contractors, with a strong focus on safety, quality, and timely delivery.

Examples of projects—covering both the design (calculation and coordination of drawings by internal/external parties) and actual execution on site, including stakeholder management and accountability for budget and schedule:
- Designing and building a new pipe rack.
- Constructing a new storage area with a shelter and buffer basin.
- Installing an additional emergency staircase in a production building.

Primary Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide technical leadership for civil projects: design review, technical validation, and quality control.
- Manage project execution: define scope, create schedules, monitor budgets, and coordinate resources.
- Act as the central point of contact for civil works, collaborating with architects, contractors, and internal stakeholders.
- Conduct site visits to monitor progress and resolve technical issues.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including reports, specifications, and drawings.
- Ensure compliance with environmental, health, safety, and quality standards.
- Identify and mitigate project risks through structured planning and decision?making.

Secondary Tasks and Responsibilities
- Provide technical support during procurement processes and contractor evaluations.
- Participate in project reviews, audits, and safety walks.
- Coach junior engineers and designers (AutoCAD/REVIT).

Technical Profile Requirements
- Master’s degree in Civil Engineering or Civil Engineering Technology.
- At least 7 years of experience in civil engineering, with basic project management experience.
- Thorough knowledge of concrete calculations and industrial steel structures.
- Skilled in writing clear and complete calculation notes.
- Able to combine technical depth with project coordination (approx. 60% engineering / 40% PM).
- Basic knowledge of structural analysis software (such as SCIA Engineer) is required.
- Additional knowledge of steel connections, geotechnics, fire safety, or road and sewer design is an asset.
- Experience interpreting drawings and 3D models in AutoCAD, REVIT, and Navisworks.
- Familiarity with EHS and quality systems in industrial environments.
- Experience with TMB legislation is a plus.
- Strong focus on safety throughout all project phases.
- Experience working with or for contractors (engineering or execution) is an advantage.

Methodology / Certification Requirements
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Civil Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
- VCA VOL certification is required.

Language Proficiencies
- Fluent in Dutch (spoken and written).
- Practical command of English for technical documentation and safety discussions.

Location
- Hoboken
- Frequent on site presence in Hoboken is required; remote work is only partially negotiable.

Contract
- Start date: As soon as possible.
- Long term collaboration intended.
