Senior Engagement Specialist
A growing renewable energy development organization is seeking a Senior Engagement Specialist to support its Development team. This newly created role will play a key part in strengthening Indigenous and community engagement capabilities as the organization expands its renewable energy portfolio across British Columbia.
The Senior Engagement Specialist will lead regulatory and community engagement activities in support of renewable energy development projects, including wind, solar, and battery energy storage. This role will be responsible for building and maintaining trusted, long-term relationships with Indigenous Nations, communities, and regulatory stakeholders, while ensuring engagement strategies align with regulatory requirements and project timelines.
This is a senior-level opportunity requiring strong experience in Indigenous engagement, stakeholder consultation, and navigating British Columbia’s regulatory frameworks within renewable energy or large infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide strategic oversight of regulatory and community engagement requirements across multiple projects to ensure alignment with permitting and development objectives
- Oversee and manage external consultants, including scope definition, coordination, and performance management
- Lead the development and execution of engagement strategies and structured consultation processes with Indigenous Nations
- Ensure engagement activities align with provincial and federal regulatory frameworks in British Columbia
- Integrate engagement schedules with overall regulatory and project development timelines
- Build and maintain respectful, long-term relationships with Indigenous Nations and community partners
- Provide senior-level support on complex or high‑risk Indigenous or stakeholder relationships
- Support consultation processes, community meetings, and engagement events
- Oversee the development of engagement materials, including presentations, communication documents, and consultation records
- Provide mentorship and guidance to engagement and community relations team members
- Collaborate closely with Development, Regulatory, and Project teams to integrate engagement activities into overall project execution plans
- Contribute to risk identification and mitigation strategies related to engagement and consultation activities
- Perform other duties as required
- 7+ years of progressive experience in Indigenous engagement, regulatory consultation, or stakeholder relations within renewable energy, infrastructure, or natural resource development
- Demonstrated experience developing and implementing engagement strategies with Indigenous Nations in British Columbia
- Strong understanding of BC regulatory processes related to renewable energy development
- Experience working in complex or high-sensitivity stakeholder environments
- Experience managing multiple projects and competing priorities
- Strong communication skills, including experience preparing and delivering presentations to Indigenous communities and key stakeholders
- Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on relationship building, cultural awareness, and collaboration
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and adaptability
- Valid driver’s license
- Willingness to travel within British Columbia as required
