Job Title: Staff Engineering Technician
6 month Contract (Temp-to-Perm Potential)

Overview
Supports engineering and design teams within the Virtual Design & Data Solutions (VDDS) group, contributing to Distributed Infrastructure projects with a focus on Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) initiatives. Responsibilities include developing civil site designs such as grading, drainage, and utilities using advanced design tools and processes.

Job Summary

• Functions in a project engineering technician capacity under general supervision.
• Develops and modifies technical deliverables to support engineering and design teams.
• Applies foundational engineering principles and established practices to create moderately complex design solutions.
• Produces site drainage, grading, and utility plans using Autodesk Civil 3D and/or Bentley MicroStation.
• Utilizes CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling tools to create and maintain project documentation.
• Provides technical guidance to ensure consistency and quality across deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

• Apply knowledge of standards, systems, document control processes, and applicable codes and procedures
• Review project requirements and determine appropriate deliverable formats and content.
• Ensure deliverables meet quality standards through adherence to quality programs and continuous improvement efforts.
• Review design inputs for consistency and compliance with project-specific codes and standards.
• Develop moderately complex design concepts using established engineering practices.
• Perform design calculations, material quantity takeoffs, and estimates.
• Handle complex technical assignments and provide guidance to other professionals.
• Review work produced by others to ensure accuracy and quality.
• Define work assignments and maintain schedules when needed.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary design teams to support design development.
• Support field activities and align deliverables with client needs.
• Stay current on emerging technologies and share knowledge across teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
• Associate degree in Drafting or Engineering Design Technology preferred
• Advanced experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, particularly grading surfaces and plan development, required.
