Staff Engineering Technician (Civil – Virtual Design & Data Solutions / APG)

Job Type: Contract (EPC Environment)
Duration: June 2026 through November 16, 2026
Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, 5 days onsite

Location Requirements:
Candidates must live within 50 miles of one of the following office locations: Overland Park, KS; Ann Arbor, MI; Cary, NC; Denver, CO; Houston, TX; or Phoenix, AZ. This is a fully onsite role with no remote option.

Compensation and Benefits:
Pay rate is $42 per hour. This role does not offer per diem or paid time off.

Job Summary:
Seeking a Staff Engineering Technician to support the Virtual Design and Data Solutions (VDDS) team within the Advanced Power Generation (APG) sector. This role supports multidisciplinary engineering teams responsible for delivering complex infrastructure and power generation projects.

The Staff Engineering Technician functions in a project-based capacity, contributing to the development of high-quality engineering deliverables. Under general supervision, the individual will apply established engineering principles and industry-standard practices to support civil and site development design work.

Key Responsibilities:
Develop and modify civil site design deliverables including grading, drainage, erosion control, roadways, fencing, and underground utilities.
Create, update, and maintain engineering drawings and technical documentation using CAD, BIM, and 3D modeling tools.
Utilize Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, and Bentley OpenPlant Modeler to produce accurate project deliverables.
Perform design calculations, quantity takeoffs, and material estimates.
Review design inputs and ensure consistency, accuracy, and compliance with project standards and applicable codes.
Apply quality control standards and contribute to continuous improvement within project execution.
Coordinate with multidisciplinary project teams to support design development and deliverable integration.
Provide technical support and guidance to other technicians and designers as needed.
Assist in reviewing the work of others and may help define work assignments or maintain project schedules.
Support field activities when required and maintain awareness of client needs and project drivers.

Required Skills and Experience:
Minimum of 5 years of related experience in engineering design or technician roles.
Proficiency in Autodesk Civil 3D, Bentley MicroStation, and Bentley OpenPlant Modeler is required.
Strong understanding of civil/site design principles and engineering documentation standards.
Experience working within CAD/BIM and digital engineering environments.
Ability to interpret design inputs and produce moderately complex engineering deliverables.
Strong attention to detail with a focus on quality and accuracy.

Education Requirements:
Diploma or certificate required.
Associate or Bachelor’s degree in drafting, engineering technology, or a related field preferred.

Additional Requirements:
Ability to complete pre-employment screenings, which may include background checks and drug screening.

Preferred Background:
Experience supporting EPC or large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly within power generation or industrial environments.
Familiarity with multidisciplinary design coordination and deliverables in complex engineering environments.
