An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Statutory Electrical Engineer to join a large-scale mining operation in Papua New Guinea. This role will provide statutory leadership and technical governance across a complex mining operation, ensuring electrical systems operate safely, reliably and in compliance with PNG mining legislation and recognised engineering standards.
Working across power generation, processing facilities and site infrastructure, you will play a key role in maintaining electrical integrity, improving asset reliability and supporting safe operational performance.

Key Responsibilities
- Fulfil the statutory responsibilities of the Statutory Electrical Engineer.
- Provide technical leadership across site electrical engineering activities.
- Ensure compliance with mining legislation and electrical safety standards.
- Review and approve electrical designs, modifications and commissioning activities.
- Support HV/LV distribution systems, substations and power generation assets.
- Lead electrical incident investigations and root cause analyses.
- Develop and maintain engineering standards and procedures.
- Mentor engineers, supervisors and electrical trades personnel.
- Support shutdown planning, asset reliability and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering.
- Registered Professional Engineer (or eligible for registration).
- 10–15 years' experience within mining, minerals processing, power generation or heavy industry.
- Previous experience in a Statutory Electrical Engineer, Senior Electrical Engineer or similar leadership role.
- Extensive experience with HV and LV electrical systems.
- Strong understanding of electrical compliance, risk management and engineering governance.
- Excellent leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience in remote mining operations.
- Knowledge of PNG Mining (Safety) Regulations or equivalent Australian legislation.
- High Voltage Switching qualifications.
- Experience with SAP PM or similar CMMS.
- CPEng, NER, RPEQ or equivalent professional registration.
- FIFO Roster
- 12-month contract with the potential for extension.
