Subsea Category Procurement Engineer (SURF EPCI / T&I / SPS)
Role Overview
The Subsea Category Procurement Engineer provides strategic sourcing, procurement, and contract support for Subsea Production Systems (SPS), SURF EPCI, and Transport & Installation (T&I) activities. The role supports EPCI projects globally and contributes to the development and execution of the client’s subsea procurement strategy across active markets.
The position involves close collaboration with internal stakeholders (Procurement Categories, Legal, Technical teams, Projects) and external partners (suppliers, subsidiaries, and contractors worldwide). Key Responsibilities
Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
  • Act as a senior procurement engineer within the SPS (EPFS & Life of Field) and/or SURF (supply and EPCI) categories.
  • Define and implement global and local procurement strategies aligned with project and business needs.
  • Identify opportunities for centralised and synergised procurement delivering measurable value.
  • Lead or support multi-asset, multi-country, or global procurement initiatives.
Tendering & Contracting
  • Support affiliates and projects through all procurement and contract phases, from bidder screening to contract award.
  • Develop and manage complex CFTs (CCFT, OBE/OBT, FEED+, etc.).
  • Prepare CFT packages including commercial structures, contract terms, and strategies.
  • Lead or support commercial evaluations, bid normalisation, negotiations, and award recommendations.
  • Provide market intelligence, benchmarks, and supply chain analysis to support project gate decisions.
Contract Administration & Governance
  • Provide senior-level support in the administration of SPS and SURF contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement governance processes (CFTs, RTA, Branch Committee approvals).
  • Coordinate with Legal on contract clarifications, risk management, and documentation.
  • Support the creation and maintenance of contract templates and procurement tools.
Supplier & Market Engagement
  • Engage directly with SPS, SURF EPCI, UFR, and T&I contractors as client representative.
  • Secure vessels, manufacturing slots, resources, and services in tight market conditions.
  • Develop and manage long-term frame agreements and preferred supplier agreements.
  • Monitor supplier performance and promote contractual compliance.
Stakeholder Management
  • Act as a focal point for designated procurement initiatives.
  • Represent Procurement in project reviews, steering committees, and governance forums.
  • Work closely with technical teams, supply chain, projects, and subsidiaries worldwide.
Continuous Improvement
  • Consolidate lessons learned (REX) and contribute to continuous improvement of procurement and contracting practices.
  • Review existing REX at the start of each dossier and document key learnings at completion.
Experience & Qualifications
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in EPCI and/or EPFS contract administration for subsea and offshore E&P projects.
  • Minimum 10 years’ recent experience in CFT management and SPS/SURF contract administration.
  • Strong experience in subsea supply chains and complex offshore procurement environments.
  • Experience in Offshore Wind Transport & Installation projects is a plus.
