Job Role: UK Systems Accountant – 12-month contract
Work Location: Aberdeen / Hybrid working
Purpose of Role:
• Provide systems support to the UK Business Unit. Responsible for transactional system support, driving forward system improvements and representing the UK business unit as finance focal point for project-based activity
Critical Responsibilities:
• Ensuring that all activities are carried out in a safe manner complying with all regulatory requirements, legislation and the client’s Energy HSES Procedures
Ethics and Compliance Responsibilities:
• Ensure that all activities and behaviours are carried out in accordance with Ethics and the clients compliance Policies and Procedures, and to complete any compulsory compliance training as required
Areas of Accountability, Responsibility and Competence:
• System Troubleshooting: Support the UK business unit in the resolution of financial system month end issues and work closely with external consultants to implement SAP changes
• SAP FI/CO/JV Improvements: Support the enhancement of the UKBU SAP FI/CO/JV processes, coordinate business requirements, perform testing and responsible for rollouts of enhancements
• Reporting Improvements: Review and develop UK reporting processes to provide accurate, automated reports to support the business deliverables
• Project Activity: UK systems representative supporting all finance projects and contributing to the successful implementation of new solutions.
• Quality Assurance & Compliance: Monitor UK Finance data for quality and compliance with internal controls, supporting internal and external audits
• Training & End-User Support: Deliver training sessions and workshops, support end users in daily operations, and contribute to the long-term use of SAP solutions.
• ER Allowance - The postholder may be required to join the emergency response rota should this become a requirement of the position.
Critical Skills, Qualifications, Experience, etc.:
• Academic Qualification: University degree or equivalent professional experience; additional certifications are an advantage.
• Professional Experience: Extensive experience with SAP and ERP systems – in particular, JV experience
• Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of accounting and reporting, particularly in the oil and gas industry. Strong analytical skills and experience with financial systems.
• Communication Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to engage confidently at all levels of the organisation.
• Service & Solution Orientation: High customer focus, flexibility in dynamic environments, and the ability to deliver high-quality results under pressure.
• Delivery: Independent, reliable working style and the ability to manage tasks through to completion.
• Business Awareness: Familiarity with the client’s HSEQ policies and Business Management System (BMS), and strong alignment with the company’s values and business principles.
