An exciting opportunity has become available for an experienced Underground Production Geologist to join a growing underground mining operation in the Cobar region of New South Wales.
This is a chance to join the owner-operator directly and play a key role in an expanding operation with significant mine development planned. The successful candidate will become part of a close-knit Technical Services team, contributing to the safe and efficient delivery of underground production while supporting the long-term growth of the operation.

Key Responsibilities
- Provide day-to-day geological support to underground mining operations.
- Conduct face mapping, geological logging and ore interpretation.
- Undertake production sampling, grade control and reconciliation activities.
- Monitor ore development and provide geological guidance to mining crews.
- Update geological models and maintain accurate geological databases.
- Identify geological hazards and communicate risks to operational teams.
- Assist with drill planning, core logging and interpretation where required.
- Liaise closely with Mining Engineers, Surveyors and the Processing team to optimise ore extraction.
- Ensure all geological activities comply with site safety, environmental and statutory requirements.
- Prepare daily, weekly and monthly geological reports.
- Tertiary qualification in Geology or Earth Sciences.
- Previous experience as an Underground Production Geologist within a hard rock underground mining environment.
- Strong understanding of underground grade control and production geology.
- Experience using geological software such as Leapfrog, Vulcan, Datamine, Surpac or similar.
- Strong geological mapping and structural interpretation skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative technical team.
- Current Australian driver's licence.
- Australian working rights.
- Experience working in narrow vein underground operations.
- Exposure to mechanised underground mining methods.
- Experience with mine reconciliation and resource-to-production conversion.
- Current First Aid and relevant mine site inductions.
