NES Fircroft is partnered with a leading industrial AI Company who are seeking a Value Forward Engineering Lead to join their team on permanent full-time basis. The role will be responsible for bridging operational technology expertise with executive-level solution consulting in heavy asset industries. This role combines hands-on client engagement to identify high-value operational improvements with leadership of our technical services delivery team.

Role Overview

The Value Forward Engineering Lead bridges deep operational engineering expertise with executive‑level solution consulting. The role is highly client‑facing and focuses on identifying high‑value operational improvement opportunities, developing compelling business cases, and guiding clients through automation and digital transformation initiatives.
In parallel, the role provides leadership and mentoring to a small team of automation engineers, ensuring high‑quality technical delivery and continuous capability uplift.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead paid consulting engagements to identify operational inefficiencies and improvement opportunities within asset‑intensive environments
  • Develop quantified business cases for operational automation and optimisation initiatives
  • Present insights, recommendations, and solution propositions to senior operational leaders and executives
  • Partner closely with Business Development and Customer Success teams on qualified opportunities requiring deep operational insight
  • Collaborate with solution architects to align operational requirements, business objectives, and technical capabilities
  • Lead and mentor a team of 3–4 automation engineers, supporting solution delivery and quality standards
  • Coach team members on OT concepts and heavy‑industry best practices
  • Develop team capability in customer‑facing consulting, value articulation, and solution positioning
Experience & Qualifications
  • 5+ years’ experience in engineering, operations, maintenance, reliability, or asset management within asset‑intensive industries (e.g. mining, oil & gas, manufacturing, utilities)
  • Strong understanding of operational technology systems, industrial processes, and maintenance strategies
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with senior operational and executive stakeholders
  • Experience leading or mentoring technical teams (people leadership experience preferred)
  • Strong commercial mindset with the ability to quantify operational improvements and business value
Preferred Experience
  • Exposure to digital transformation initiatives in industrial environments
  • Background in reliability engineering, operational excellence, or asset management
  • Consulting, pre‑sales, or solution advisory experience
  • Familiarity with industrial IoT, predictive maintenance, or process optimisation technologies
