Title: Gyro Field Specialist

Position Summary:
Our client is seeking contractor Gyro Field Specialists to support field-based Gyro survey operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, technically correct, and efficient operation of Gyro survey instruments and related field equipment while representing the company at customer locations. This role requires strong oilfield experience, disciplined adherence to HSE expectations, sound technical judgment, and the ability to deliver accurate survey services in demanding field environments. The ideal candidate has MWD or Gyro experience, however it is not required.

Position Summary:
Our client is seeking contractor Gyro Field Specialists to support field-based Gyro survey operations. The successful candidate will be responsible for the safe, technically correct, and efficient operation of Gyro survey instruments and related field equipment while representing the company at customer locations. This role requires strong oilfield experience, disciplined adherence to HSE expectations, sound technical judgment, and the ability to deliver accurate survey services in demanding field environments. The ideal candidate has MWD or Gyro experience, however it is not required.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Safely operate company Gyro survey instruments across applicable job types and field environments.
- Act as the company representative during field operations, liaising professionally with client field representatives and site operations personnel to execute accurate and efficient survey services.
- Maintain responsibility for quality control of survey data acquired during field operations.
- Attend pre-spud, post-well, and other client field meetings when required.
- Provide hands-on support, coaching, or field-level training to less experienced personnel when requested by operations leadership.
- Perform Level I maintenance of survey equipment in the local shop, including pre-job and post-job checks, test stand activity, and drift analysis as applicable.
- Proactively maintain current technical knowledge of Gyro survey methods, field procedures, equipment, and evolving technology.
- Participate in safety meetings, operational reviews, and other required HSE or technical meetings.
- Perform additional duties reasonably required as part of the Gyro field operations function.
- Cooperate with management in promoting, developing, and maintaining a safe place of work, safe work practices, and compliance with applicable health and safety requirements.
- Identify and report hazardous work methods, equipment, tools, site conditions, or shop conditions, and submit suggestions to improve or correct unsafe situations.
- Prepare or support reporting for accidents, incidents, near misses, equipment damage, or situations that could have caused injury, loss, damage, or production impact.
- Maintain awareness of hazards associated with field and shop work, including rig-site, transportation, lifting, pressure, electrical, mechanical, and environmental exposures as applicable to the work scope.
- Use required PPE and safety equipment, maintain it in clean and serviceable condition, and immediately report any defects or missing equipment.
- Follow company, client, and location-specific HSE requirements, including journey management, stop-work authority, hazard identification, and field-level risk assessment expectations.
- Previous oilfield experience is required.
- Preference will be given to candidates with prior experience operating MWD, LWD, wireline, Gyro, directional drilling, survey, or similar downhole tools.
- Previous Gyro field experience is strongly preferred and should be clearly identified by hiring agencies when submitting candidates.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and independently in field environments, including drilling rig and remote field locations.
- Ability to understand and follow technical procedures, job programs, safety requirements, and customer-specific site expectations.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with client representatives, rig personnel, and operations personnel.
- Ability to complete accurate field documentation, service quality records, job reports, and HSE reporting requirements.
- Willingness and ability to travel, work irregular schedules, respond to callouts, and support field operations as required.
- Demonstrates a high level of personal accountability, taking full ownership of tasks, decisions, and outcomes from initiation through completion.
- Hands-on experience with Gyro survey tools, Gyro while drilling operations, north-seeking Gyro systems, wireline-deployed Gyro services, or comparable surveying technology.
- Experience in Western Canada field operations, SAGD, pad drilling, heavy oil, horizontal wells, or high magnetic interference / anti-collision environments.
- Strong service quality mindset with a focus on accurate survey data, clear communication, and efficient job execution.
- Comfortable representing the company directly with customers in the field and escalating technical or operational concerns appropriately.
