Role Synopsis:
- The Wells Audit Engineer is a key contributor to maintaining the integrity, safety, and operational performance of Drilling Rigs, Workover Rigs, and Well Service Units operating within the Organization.
- This role is responsible for conducting comprehensive onsite technical, conditional and management system audits, ensuring full alignment with contractual, regulatory, standards and international standards.
- Reporting to the Senior Wells Auditor, this role is essential to enforcing the standards across the contractors operating within the Oilfield.
- The Wells Audit engineer role is instrumental in strengthening commitment to excellence, operational compliance, and the development of local technical expertise.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead by example and drive positive change in environments where HSE practices are still maturing.
- Support the implementation of the minimum standards and international standards for Drilling Workover, and Wells Service operations.
- Utilize and refine multi-tiered audit checklist tools to conduct detailed operational audits across the fleet
- Perform regular scheduled audits to verify contractor compliance with international standards, standards and contract requirements.
- Deliver high-quality audit reports and Corrective Action Registers (CARs) with photographic evidence, ensuring timely submission and clear documentation.
- Track and follow up on CAR items in coordination with contractors to ensure effective closure of audit findings.
- Conduct root cause analyses, lead incident investigations, and compile detailed technical reports.
- Collaborate with Wells department managers to communicate audit findings and drive continuous improvement.
- Promote the adoption of new technologies and alignment with API, ISO, other relevant international standards and industry best practices.
Criteria & Qualifications
- Experience in auditing services for Drilling, Workover, and Wells Service units
- Strong operational knowledge of Drilling, Workover, and Wells Service Units. Preferably to rig Manager level with Western Drilling Contractor
- IADC or IWCF Level 4 Well Control
- Familiarity with rig design and manufacturing standards.
- Proficient in Preventive Maintenance Systems (PMS), has hands-on experience and a strong working knowledge of PMS
- Be familiar with PMS software platforms or paper-based systems
- Strong knowledge of related operational standards, refers to industry rules and best practices (such as API, ISO, or internal company standards)
- Good understanding of BOP systems, mechanical and electrical equipment used on rigs and well service units
- Knowledge of the API standards related to the Explosion proof hazardous areas and their requirements
- Solid understanding of Ex-rated electrical equipment requirements and hazardous area (Ex) inspection practices; formal Ex training or certification is considered an advantage.
- Experience with audit methodologies and management systems.
- Demonstrated ability to coach, mentor, and train both local and international personnel.
- Self-motivated and capable of working independently, while also being an effective team player.
- Proven track record in a technical auditor role.
- Excellent technical writing and formal reporting skills in English language.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to perform effectively in fast-paced and dynamic operational environments.
