Case Study - Civil Infrastructure

Sydney - Sourcing Critical Engineers for WestConnex

We supplied engineering expertise to a subcontractor for the civil infrastructure WestConnex joint venture development.

Our client had experienced severe difficulties when sourcing appropriate talent in a candidate-short market, particularly as their vacancies often occur last minute on an urgent basis. On this occasion, they had a business-critical requirement to locate and hire two site engineers in a very short time frame to ensure the continued success of their project.

Our Solution
  • We appointed a team of dedicated civil recruitment consultants and account managers to work closely with the client and on-site line managers to gain an in-depth understanding of both the technical requirements of the role, and the cultural environment of the organisation.
  • The permanent nature of the roles on offer meant that ensuring a cultural match was equally important to the candidates’ technical skillsets to ensure longevity of the placements and therefore an uninterrupted project timeline.
  • Through our extensive network connections, we undertook a discreet direct headhunting effort enabling us to further map out the market of relevant candidates and effectively target our search. We approached only the most suitable of candidates and generated an appropriate pre-qualified shortlist within the tight timescales required.
The results of our support

We located and secured the crucial talent in the necessary timeframe, and both candidates were successful in their placements.

The client was so impressed with the profile fit of our short-listed candidates and our execution of the scope that they are now strong ambassadors of NESF and our services; we continued to support them on this particular project for a number of years.
