NESFircroft continue to partner with industry leaders in the onshore cabling space. We are currently looking for a Cable Route Civil Engineer to join on a long term consultancy basis. This role is required to provide civil engineering services for the onshore cable route and HDD landfall: FEED/detailed design reviews, constructability and value-engineering input planning-condition technical responses, ITT scope and appendices.

The Cable Route Civil Engineer will provide civil-engineering and constructability support to the projects Onshore Package across the export-cable route, HDD landfall, and shared onshore civils interfaces. This is part of a flagship project for the client, which is at the forefront of the green energy transition

Design/ITT
  • Review FEED and detailed-design deliverables for trench civils, crossings, drainage, reinstatement, and HDD interfaces, issuing consolidated technical comments to designers.
  • Maintain and update the Design Risk Register within Omega, coordinating closure of design-risk items with the design houses.
  • Produce constructability inputs and route-logistics notes (haul roads, access strategy, AIL interfaces).
  • Tender Participation (capacity-aware): where bandwidth or mobilisation timing restricts full authorship of the tender pack, focus on targeted technical contributions and subsequently lead or support bidder clarifications, evaluation workshops, and technical close-out ahead of contract award.
  • Provide technical support to the Construction Manager to ensure alignment between the cable-route civils design and wider onshore construction activities, including temporary works, drainage continuity, compound layouts, and schedule integration
  • Support the Onshore Package Manager and Consents consultant in discharging relevant planning conditions (e.g., Section 56, SEPA drainage, and reinstatement notes)
  • Training & Competency (all Contractors must be appropriately trained, qualified, and competent for their assigned duties. Supporting documentation should be available for review during onboarding. Please list the relevant training and competency requirements).

The Cable Route Civil Engineer shall demonstrate the following minimum qualifications, professional experience, and competencies:

Academic / Professional Qualifications
  • Degree (BEng / MEng) in Civil or Structural Engineering or HND in Civil Engineering with substantial demonstrable experience in linear infrastructure delivery.
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE / MIStructE) or actively working toward professional registration preferred.
Core Technical Competence
  • 7 – 12 years’ experience in onshore linear infrastructure or EPCI civils (export cables, pipelines, highways, utilities).
  • Proven track record in civil design review, constructability assessment, and field delivery on large multidisciplinary projects.
  • Knowledge of DMRB, SUDS, Scottish planning / roads standards, and trench civils best practice
  • Strong understanding of QA / ITP / NCR processes, materials testing, and as-built verification.
  • Working knowledge of HDD construction interfaces and environmental controls.
  • Through working knowledge of UK H&S regulation.
  • Competence in CDM 2015 pre-construction duties and design-risk management.
  • Desirable: previous experience supporting the Principal Designer (PD) under CDM 2015, demonstrating awareness of legal obligations and multi-designer coordination.
Project & Delivery Skills
  • Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary design inputs (civil, electrical, environmental) and integrate them into EPCI tender or delivery documents.
  • Strong stakeholder communication and interface management skills.
  • Competent with Microsoft Office 365 / Sharepoint / GIS / Autodesk Suites and document-control systems (knowledge of Omega 365 is advantageous but not necessary)
