Job dimensions

The EPCI Survey representative position is rotational and based in Mozambique, either onboard EPCI Contractor (MTV) Construction Vessels or in Afungi camp (when no Contractor vessels are on site). They report to the Company Site Representative (CSR) onboard the Construction Vessel and to the Afungi camp based EPCI Installation and Construction Execution Manager.
Onboard the construction vessel, the main responsibilities of the EPCI survey representative include the following:

•            Review of the survey procedures
•            Review of the survey related management of change (MOC)
•            Supervision and acceptance when required of the survey and positioning activities, which include without being limited to, the following:
            Calibration of the survey and positioning spread, including the offsets measurement
            Survey and positioning operations o/b the vessel, including without being limited to, pre-lay and pre-installation surveys, as-laid and as-installed surveys, as-built surveys, metrologies. This also include the review of the survey field reports
            Installation and calibration of the permanent and temporary frame array
            Proper implementation of the procedures and acoustic frequencies management plan
            Confirm consistency between reports, CAD Layouts and Field Coordinates Handbook
            Assist CSR for any Survey related / drafting request

Activities
•            Ensure that all survey and positioning work activities are performed in compliance with project technical requirements and are fit for purpose.
•            Review and comment on survey related documentation prepared by the EPCI contractor.
•            Ensure that all Contractor’s survey and positioning equipment is suitable and fit for purpose
•            Provide effective leadership in identification and resolution of interfaces.
•            Interfacing to ensure that impacts of co-activities are properly managed and minimized.
•            Ensure identification and resolution of detailed interface issues, in conjunction with other managers / senior discipline engineers, in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
•            Ensure, in conjunction with project HSE personnel, that all scope of work activities are performed in compliance with a high regard to Health, Safety, Security and Environmental requirements.
•            Provide leadership within the survey and positioning scope of work activities for all HSE performance and compliance including monitoring of performance, implementation of corrective measures for performance issues and pro-active implementation of schemes / activities to improve upon good performance.
•            Provide effective leadership in Quality performance and compliance.
•            Ensure that all survey and positioning scope of work activities are performed in compliance with a high regard to Quality Assurance and Control.
•            The surveyor shall:
            Supervise the survey and positioning data acquisition, including the associated QA/QC
            Review and assess the survey related filed reports submitted by CONTRACTOR
            Make sure that all necessary data are duly collected in a timely manner by the survey sub-contractor offshore.
            Collect the as-built reports and the field reports carried out each day to file them properly on board available for the COMPANY representative.
            Inform the COMPANY Representative about all shortcomings, problems and, or major defects detected in survey works
            Ensure the technical exchange with the survey sub-contractor offshore in order to make sure that the survey services are carried out as per the specification and liaise between the COMPANY Representative and CONTRACTOR on survey issues.
            Liaise with the affiliate Project / Affiliate Lead Surveyor
•            During the mobilisation phase, he shall:
            Make sure the navigation sensors are duly calibrated
            Make sure that the offsets of the sensors have been professionally assessed by the survey sub-contractor.
            Make sure that the survey sub-contractor implements the QA/QCConfirm the vessel Survey & Positioning system operates as per specifications and is safe to proceed

Accountabilities
•            Oversight of all survey and positioning scope activities associated with the offshore and onshore installation activities on the project during the preparatory and installation phases of the works.
•            Safe and on time delivery of the deep-water scope of work within the EPCI Contract whilst ensuring a high level of quality consistent with a project design life of 30 years.

Qualifications/Experience required
•            Degree in hydrographic surveying with a minimum of 15 years practical marine construction
•            Experience in shallow water and deepwater oil & gas offshore installation projects, dredging, pipeline installation, subsea structures, subsea LiDAR, multiple types of sonars,
•            Proven experience in USBLas well as, LBL arrays installation, calibration and operation,
•            Proven experience in Subsea LiDAR, SSS, MBES and environmental sensors operations and related data QA/QCExtensive knowledge in processing multiple types of survey data (acoustic baselines, array adjustment, metrologies, depth
•            Experienced and able to assess and analyze a deep-water installation spread, contractors’ capabilities and challenge the robustness of their overall execution planning to deliver a deep-water installation campaign.
•            Ability to get along well with others in an international / multi-cultural environment and take a pragmatic approach to problem solving situations.
•            Ability to multi-task and work as part of small and flexible team.
•            Desire to take responsibility for own area of work and to hold self-accountable to deliver in accordance with responsibilities.
•            Ability to manage subcontractors and ensure timely delivery against scope requirements.
•            Ability to develop good working relationships with contractors and contractor personnel and progress collaborative problem solving. 
•            Fluency in the English language.
