Our valued client, a global Oil & Gas operator, is seeking a HSE Specialist – Emergency Management, to join their HSE Team in Onslow, WA, on an initial 2-year contract.

The HSE Specialist – Emergency Management position is based in Onslow reporting to the Team Lead. The position provides field execution of emergency management processes and safeguards at the Plant. The role works closely with the Perth based Emergency Management Specialist to plan and execute activities to support an aligned approach to emergency management. 

The role provides coaching and guidance in the safe and environmentally responsible execution of work scopes and supports the execution of emergency management practices. In addition, the role also provides day-to-day ERT business partner oversight. 

Additionally, the HSE Specialist – Emergency Management will be:
  • Providing HSE advice and guidance to Plant Operations, Maintenance and Supply Chain teams with a strong focus on practical application of workforce safety, occupational hygiene, Human and Organisational Performance and environmental compliance
  • Undertaking safeguard assurance verification and validation activities for high-consequence work scopes
  • Facilitating incident investigations and learning events using company approved incident investigation methodologies (e.g., 5-Whys, SAFE, Why-tree and Learning Teams)
  • Building productive working relationships across HSE, Business Partners and other support teams to facilitate alignment and execution efficiency of HSE activities and processes.
  • Facilitating the execution of emergency management processes on site.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Demonstrated practical application of company control of work and occupational hygiene workforce requirements and relevant Australian HSE legislation (safety and environment) in a field environment.
  • Practical understanding of OE management system and Human and Organizational (HOP) concepts, to support fatality and serious incident prevention efforts.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and build respectful and trusted relationships with a variety of stakeholders including site leaders and the broader workforce including frontline personnel and business partners
  • Demonstrated ability to be a visible HSE professional that adjusts communication styles to influence improvements in fatality and serious incident prevention efforts and act as a conduit for the workforce to raise barriers to HSE performance and share learning opportunities. 
Must have skills
  • Qualifications in HSE
  • Minimum 7 years of HSE experience
  • Experience in working in a resource company operating site, in health, safety and emergency management
  • Experience working on an oil and gas facility
