Role Overview:
Working within an Operational department, the Process Safety Leader is responsible to enforce and support the Process Safety Management System. This individual is responsible for a wide variety of critical tasks across many areas, including (not limited to): Process design; Hazardous Areas; Relief systems (PSV, flare networks, Blowdown); Safety Instrumented Systems; Management of change; Risk assessment; Incident Investigation. Operational Process Safety Fundamentals.
The role is diverse, with a flexible approach required to meet dynamic business needs. The individual shall have a strong engineering background and prior experience in a process safety role. An operational background will be appreciated.

Key Responsibilities:
- Maintenance of the facilities safety concepts and reference documentation:
- Verify the compliance of the facilities design and operating principles with the Operating Management System (OMS) requirements. Provide technically sound engineering solutions to mitigate identified risk gaps that are compliant with all health, safety, and environmental legislation.
- Define and update the facilities safety philosophies/concepts
- Support and follow the update of the As-built reference documentation (Hazardous Area Classification, ESD Logic Diagrams / Cause & Effect Diagrams, Escape route drawings, Fire Fighting Equipment Layouts, P&IDs, etc)
- Support the revision of the Emergency procedures
- Coordinate the safety studies update (with technical safety) in line with the approved safety concept
- Verify the compliance of the Process Safety Registers and associated KPIs and Performance Standards: Safety Critical Elements, Inhibitions, Derogations, Downgraded situations, Change Requests (MOC)
- Lead and/or provide technical expertise for incident investigations. Collect, analyse and report on the Process Safety indicators arising from the reported incidents.
- Ensure that the process safety action lists arising from the safety reviews (HAZOP, HAZID, JRA, ORA, DWOP, etc) performed within the engineering activities (projects, drilling, workover) are appropriately followed and closed
- Ensure all engineering and plant modifications follow a robust Management of Change (MOC) process. Provide process safety input and guidance for the MOC process.
- Lead the Safety studies for local projects developed in the subsidiary in coordination with the group Process Safety Lead
- Participate in the monitoring of the action plans related to major accident prevention
- Provide support for the update of the facilities regulatory hazard analyses.
- Perform site-based process safety assurance activities (e.g. facilities audits, project mechanical completion review, new facilities handover to production)
- Manage, participate, and lead when required, HAZOP and other safety studies (HAZID, ORA and QRA)
- Support Functional Safety activities
- Coach and mentor junior engineers
- Attend and witness FAT/SAT for safety equipment if required.
- Support to Pre commissioning, commissioning preparation and execution
- Comments and/or approval of the safety documents from contractors and vendors within the engineering activities (projects, drilling, workover)
- Comment, approve and validate specifications and requisitions from vendors (F&G, PFP, CSP, FiFi, etc) within the engineering activities (projects, drilling, workover)
- MEng in Chemical and/or Process Engineering or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in process safety acquired in a major hazard industry, preferably Oil and Gas
- Knowledge and ability to apply regulations, codes and standards, and good practices in the oil and gas industry
- Capable of developing/coordinating the detailed engineering of a project in terms of process safety (including C&E diagrams, ESD logic diagrams, hazardous area classification and layout, fire and gas detection systems, fire-fighting systems, etc.)
- Knowledge of the ALARP principle (Risk matrix interpretation)
- Experience in organization and leading HAZID/HAZOP/ENVID worshops
- Knowldege of the SIL and LOPA assessment methodologies
- Knowledge of semi-quantitative risk assessments (e.g. Bow-Tie for identification and assessment of the safety barriers)
- Knowledge of Process Engineering Design Principles:
- P&ID and Process Flow Diagrams interpretation
- Process Control Systems and Automation interpretation
- Cause and Effect charts and ESD LD Interpretation
- Operating and control philosophies and procedures analysis & review
- Firefighting design interpretation (PID, Calculation notes, layout, etc)
- Knowledge of Reservoir, well, artificial lift process control & safety principles
- Experienced in the Management of change process
- Experienced in Incident reporting and investigation process (root cause analysis, recommendation, classification)
- Knowledge of Hazardous Area Classification methodology (EI15)
- Knowledge of simulation software Phast and Flaresim
- Ability to interpret CFD results
- Experience in the interpretation of QRA for Safety Cases
- Native or fluent French speaker, which a high level in English written and spoken
- Highly adaptable, able to thrive in a demanding and agile environment
- Strong team player
