Position: Project Manager
Department: Maintenance & Engineering
Location: Basra, Iraq
Duration: 12 months renewable
Rotation: 28/28
Role Synopsis
The candidate must have a proven track record for execution of projects and parallel implementation of HSSE and quality requirements, risk and change management. As an experienced practitioner, excellent knowledge and experience of engineering and design, interface management, cost control, planning, contracting strategies, procurement, construction and handover will be expected. Experience in performance management across energy industry and 3rd party contractor organizations. Good interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
Project management capability to implement standard processes and practices; define, manage and control project scope, risk and change; meet HSSE and quality assurance requirements; knowledge of project control techniques for estimating, planning, cost control and status reporting; understand and use of budgeting and accounting methods; ability to set execution strategies and plans and manage engineering, procurement, construction and handover to deliver to these strategies and plans.
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities
• Accountable to deliver projects safely, efficiently on schedule according to the annual work plan and budget
• Accountable to embed and promote within their teams safety leadership principles
• Accountable to implement and adhere to capital value project procedures. Full project life cycle accountability to handover to client
• Responsible to ensure project budgets are well defined, and portfolio of projects are completed within budget, assist in annual and monthly budgets Establish and meet schedules, targets and KPI’s
• Responsible to monitor costs against relevant capital budgets. Manage/optimize prioritized portfolio in the plan, maximizing delivery. Ensure plan can be executed within site constraints and highlight emerging concerns about delivery
• Responsible to ensure activities entering the plans are in compliance with gate criteria. Provide input to relevant subject matter expertise into recommendations for key procurement decisions, as required.
•Responsible to ensure cross functional communication between all key stakeholders – Operations, Subsurface, Company Engineering, Optimisation, Incumbent engineering contractor, HSE.
Essential Education
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related Science discipline,
Essential experience and job requirements
• Key skills include communication, interpersonal relationships, facilitation, influence
• Ability to develop others and foster diverse relationships in a multinational environment
• Ability to identify correct priorities of support activities
• Identify and assess safety hazards
• Ability to speak Arabic would be beneficial but not essential
Other Requirements
• Technical excellence and broad experience of continuous improvement delivery
• Experience of oil and gas field
• Deep understanding of risk, analysis, interpretation and evaluation.
• Able to prioritise work in a fast-paced environment

Essential experience and job requirements
- Minimum 10 years’ experience of Project Management experience gained in Oil and Gas.
- Middle East experience preferred, Iraq experience highly regarded.
- Management and motivation of a small team of project engineers. Coach and develop national staff that need additional project experience.
- Experience in application interpretation to an advanced level with risk analysis, mitigation and contingency planning.
- Understanding of subsurface requirements and drivers.
- Considerable experience in integration of modifications across the full value chain of hydrocarbon and water production facilities.
- Experience in working across multi-function / discipline teams, excellent communication skills and ability to influence both up and down the organization.
- Experience in most of world environments is preferred.
- Experience of developing others through coaching, on the job training and ideally delivery of specialised training.
