Our client, an oil and gas operator, are currently hiring a Wellsite Performance Engineer on a long-term contract basis. This is on an 3/3 offshore rotation.
BASIC PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
The scope of this position covers both offshore and onshore Abandonment operations, with the job holder rotating between two platforms, mobile rig and office locations.
When offshore the key responsibility will be to perform the Performance engineer function, support abandonment ops with any engineering required at the wellsite and assisting and deputising for the Drilling Supervisor.
When onshore the key responsibility will be to assist the Operations Engineer and Wells Superintendent with end of well reporting and key learnings.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Offshore Operations
- Assists and deputises for Drilling Supervisor in managing rig operations. Assists with preparation morning reports, cement calculations and other documents and spreadsheets as required.
- Participates in the compilation of daily work instructions and action plans for operations and logistics.
- Ensures familiarity with the well objectives and the detailed Abandonment programme. Gives careful consideration to upcoming requirements for personnel, bulks, and tools.
- Assists the Logistics Co-Ordinator by compiling daily operations lookaheads.
- Performs visual checks of all rental tools and tangibles arriving on the rig to ensure that the correct items have been received in the correct quantity and in satisfactory quality (as can be determined from a visual check).
- Ensures records of dimensions are kept for all rental equipment run in hole.
- Maintains electronic model of the wellbore to cross-check observed versus calculated torque, drag and hydraulics.
- Maintains hard copy and electronic well files to meet the requirements of the Well Examination scheme, ensures timely dispatch of such records to the office-based Operations Engineer for archiving.
- Optimises logistics versus changing downhole work scope.
- Participates in the rig safety management system including safety behavioural programme, risk assessments, pre-tour meetings, toolbox talks and safety meetings.
- Monitor and analyze real-time data during abandonment operations to identify performance trends and inefficiencies.
- Records lessons learned by analyzing performance and comparing the observed result against the plan to provide learning for the organization for future operations
- Conduct Pre-job reviews and after-action reviews for each work instruction and ensure all lessons are captured and fed back into programmes, SOP and work instructions as required.
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance wellsite performance, reduce non-productive time (NPT), and improve overall operational outcomes.
- Collaborate with onshore engineers, rig crews, service providers, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment on performance goals.
- Conduct post-well reviews and performance benchmarking across rigs and assets.
- Support the deployment of digital tools and technologies for performance tracking and reporting.
- Provide technical input during planning phases to optimize abandonment programmes and execution strategies.
- Prepare detailed performance reports and present weekly performance meetings.
- Proactively identifies future operations requirements, considers risks and possible outcomes, and generates contingency programmes to manage uncertainties.
- Supports rig teams with technical and planning work to help resolve problems and execute rig operations safely, efficiently and cost effectively.
- Creates reports for the client and the legislative bodies by compiling operations information and performance analysis to provide an as-installed record of events and well components.
- Assists in close-out non-conformance reports.
- Prepares section summaries and key learnings for inclusion in the End-of-well report and compiles the End of Well Report.
- Complies with, and assists team members to comply with, the Management System, particularly the procedures and Guidance Documents relevant to Operations.
- Makes recommendations for improvements to the Management System and ensures that effective controls are maintained for drilling engineering and operations.
QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

- Degree in a technical / engineering discipline
- Offshore Survival Training Certificate, UK Medical and MIST
- Fully certified by a recognised Well Control Authority for drilling activities e.g., IWCF, WELLCAP to Subsea Supervisor level.
