NES Global Talent, the technical manpower specialist, has appointed industry expert Matt Underhill to the new strategic role of Regional Director for Asia Pacific, as part of plans to become a £100m net profit business by the year 2020.

Prior to his move, Matt spent 20 years at Hays, where his roles included Managing Director for Hays Asia and Global Managing Director for Hays Oil & Gas.

Leading NES Global Talent’s 13 offices in nine countries across Asia and Australasia, Matt will focus on growing the company’s contract and permanent staffing solutions business across core sectors including oil and gas, power and infrastructure, as well as diversifying into new markets.

Talking about why he joined NES Global Talent, Matt, who has a degree in engineering, said: “NES Global Talent has an unrivalled reputation in the market and a professional, forward-looking outlook, always striving to provide the innovative solutions needed to fill the engineering skills gap.

“While Australia is home to some of the best engineering talent in the world, with so many projects on the go and many more in the pipeline, demand has been outstripping supply and the country is suffering from numerous skills shortages. In Asia, there are different challenges, while there are plenty of appropriately trained graduates entering the market, experienced expertise within technically demanding projects is still in short supply.

“I look forward to working across the Asia Pacific region, building our existing business partnerships and developing new revenue streams.”

Simon Coton, Managing Director at NES Global Talent, said: “We are delighted that Matt has joined us in this new strategic position. We are excited by the prospect of our Asia and Australasia operations working more closely together and believe it will help us towards our goal of achieving £100m net profit by 2020.

“Our continued success is largely due to our focus on our value proposition – guaranteed staffing solutions, engineered from the global talent pool, by discipline specific consultants – which highlights our ongoing commitment to delivering an exceptional service to both clients and candidates.

“Our global network of offices has been opened strategically within hiring hubs and to mirror the geographical footprint of our key clients, meaning that we can deliver on the complex staffing challenges that others cannot.

“As well as making sure we are in the locations where we are needed most, we work hard to put our clients and candidates at the heart of everything we do. We offer a whole spectrum of client support services, ranging from a payroll service through to a complete recruitment process outsourcing offering, along with additional support to our contractors including global healthcare insurance, visas, security and travel and mobilisation support. It is this people-centric approach and the excellence in which we execute the services which we believe sets us apart.”
