Job Summary: The Chemical Technician I (Operations/Laboratory Technician) is responsible for supporting plant operations through chemical analysis and equipment monitoring. This role involves collecting and preparing samples, conducting chemical tests, controlling plant equipment, performing light maintenance, and collaborating with engineers and technicians to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in daily operations meetings to discuss safety, environmental compliance, quality, and KPIs.
  • Maintain qualifications and training standards for lab and operations responsibilities.
  • Follow Laboratory Procedures, Quality Manuals, and Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards within the facility.
  • Identify and initiate corrective actions for process, safety, or environmental issues.
  • Understand and locate emergency equipment within the plant.
  • Perform lab and operations tasks including sample collection, analysis, equipment adjustments, and recordkeeping.
  • Read, analyze, and interpret complex documents and equipment data.
  • Work 40 hours/week, including nights, weekends, and rotating shifts as needed.
  • Be willing to cross-train and work in all areas of the facility.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned by management.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 2 years as a laboratory technician (1 year if in a plant environment).
  • 2 years of experience as a plant operator.
  • Chemical Lab Technician Certification or Plant Operator Technology Certificate.
  • Relevant military experience is a plus.
