We are working with our oil and gas client, INPEX who are seeking a Claims Paralegal to join them on a 10-month contract. This opportunity is available either on a full-time or a 0.8 (part time) basis. The primary function of this role is to provide essential support to the Claims & Disputes team within the in-house Legal department. The successful candidate will assist in the day-to-day management of litigation-related matters by performing a range of administrative and coordination tasks.
Key responsibilities include managing discovery workstreams, responding to document and information requests from external legal counsel, opposing parties, and expert consultants, as well as liaising with internal departments to gather relevant information. The role also involves maintaining accurate and up-to-date internal databases, organising and managing case files, and ensuring the timely flow of documents and correspondence.

The role also involves maintaining accurate and up-to-date internal databases, organising and managing case files, and ensuring the timely flow of documents and correspondence.
Key responsibilities/duties:
- Act as a liaison between external legal counsel and internal departments, ensuring timely and professional communication across stakeholders.
- Locate, compile, and deliver requested documentation and information to external parties as required.
- Manage Nuix Discover, the primary document review platform housing custodian data, company records, and litigation materials.
- Review and process monthly invoices from external legal counsel and technology consultants, ensuring accuracy and alignment with agreed scopes of work.
- Maintain effective file management practices, ensuring all documents are accurately saved, named, and accessible within internal systems (e.g. iManage).
- Support the broader Claims & Disputes team with general administrative, legal, and procedural tasks to ensure continuity during ongoing litigation.
- External Consultants: Liaise frequently with technology consultants (e.g. FTI and INPEX’s appointed providers) to coordinate data management tasks, including the processing, uploading, and review of company data and documents within litigation platforms.
- External Legal Counsel: Act as a point of contact for external legal teams, facilitating access to requested documents and information, and directing them to appropriate internal personnel as required.
- Internal Stakeholders: Coordinate with internal departments and individual witnesses to arrange interviews or meetings with external counsel, and to source, verify, or clarify company information relevant to litigation matters.
- This role requires strong communication skills, an understanding of litigation workflows, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Prior paralegal experience, preferably in an in-house or litigation-focused environment.
- Familiarity with legal processes, particularly document discovery and case management workflows.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook, iManage, Sharepoint and Nuix Discover.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with high attention to detail and accuracy.
