Job Title: Commissioning Coordinator
Location: Calgary, AB
Length: Until end of January 2026, with potential for 1-year extension based on performance
Rotation: Monday to Friday, 8 hours/day
Description:
Our client is currently seeking an experienced Commissioning Coordinator (CxC) to oversee commissioning activities across multiple oil and gas projects. The successful candidate will play a critical role in the safe, efficient, and timely start-up of new, modified, or repaired equipment within the client’s assets. This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning strategies, procedures, and schedules while ensuring alignment with operational and construction teams.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of commissioning standards, construction practices, and operational readiness, and will bring subject matter expertise to support projects from early design through to final handover.

This role involves planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning strategies, procedures, and schedules while ensuring alignment with operational and construction teams.
The ideal candidate will be a hands-on leader with deep knowledge of commissioning standards, construction practices, and operational readiness, and will bring subject matter expertise to support projects from early design through to final handover.
Key Responsibilities:
Planning Phase:
- Develop detailed commissioning plans and schedules in collaboration with the Project Management Team.
- Coordinate with automation and high voltage commissioning specialists.
- Ensure operational procedures and turnover packages are created and incorporated into overall project planning.
- Engage vendors, review scopes, estimates, schedules, and commissioning procedures.
- Track costs and progress of vendor activities, ensuring compliance with client safety standards.
- Import standard indices data into completions software (e.g., PIMS Omega).
- Support development of system/sub-system boundaries and milestone schedules.
- Participate in design reviews, PHA studies, and MOC processes.
- Educate construction teams on commissioning procedures and tools (e.g., Bluebeam, walkdowns).
- Coordinate FATs and SWATs as required.
- Participate in pre-fabrication inspections.
- Manage commissioning vendors, RFIs, and change requests during execution.
- Be present on-site as needed, ensuring safety, schedule adherence, and operational alignment.
- Issue daily progress reports and manage shift turnovers.
- Support PSSR completion and final equipment handover.
- Assist with project close-out documentation.
- Capture and report lessons learned for continuous improvement.
- Minimum 15 years of related experience in electrical or instrumentation trades, with at least 5 years in a supervisory or commissioning lead role. Dual ticket is an asset.
- Background in engineering, construction, or operations considered a strong asset.
- CET or Project Management certification is an advantage.
- Strong leadership and communication skills with demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Deep understanding of oil & gas processing systems, metering, control systems, and engineering documents (P&IDs, shutdown keys, single lines, etc.).
- Proficiency with completions management software (PIMS Omega preferred).
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite and drawing management tools like Bluebeam.
- Excellent safety record and proactive approach to HSE.
- Valid Class 5 driver's license required.
