Job Title: Laboratory Technologist
Location: Kitimat, BC
Length: 12 months (with potential for extension)
Rotation: 5 days a week, 40 hours per week - Schedule changed to 10 hour days for plant startup for Laboratory Readiness. Schedule will switch to a 12 hour days during the plant commissioning and startup stage.

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technologist to support our client in Kitimat, BC. Reporting to the Senior Head of Laboratory, the Laboratory Technologist is a key member of the laboratory team, contributing to method development, sample testing, equipment calibration, and maintaining safety and quality systems in a dynamic, operational environment.

We are currently seeking a Laboratory Technologist to support our client in Kitimat, BC. Reporting to the Senior Head of Laboratory, the Laboratory Technologist is a key member of the laboratory team, contributing to method development, sample testing, equipment calibration, and maintaining safety and quality systems in a dynamic, operational environment.
Key Responsibilities:
During the Execute Phase (module fabrication, pre-commissioning, commissioning, start-up, and ramp-up):
- Collaborate with operations to build a strong, integrated team culture.
- Assist in validating and implementing laboratory test methods.
- Contribute to the development and documentation of laboratory SOPs.
- Train laboratory personnel on new methods and equipment.
- Participate in calibrations and develop preventive maintenance plans.
- Support the creation of laboratory safety and quality manuals.
- Assist with preparations for ISO 17025 certification.
During the Operate Phase:
- Conduct routine and ad-hoc analysis on process and product samples.
- Communicate off-spec or abnormal results promptly to operations.
- Ensure adherence to laboratory safety protocols and report safety concerns.
- Maintain and troubleshoot laboratory instrumentation.
- Maintain an organized inventory of chemicals, reagents, and supplies.
- Participate in quality investigations and support continuous improvement.
- Help drive digitization and development of a data-enabled lab environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Technology, or Chemical Engineering Technology.
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in LNG, refining, petrochemical, or heavy industry operations.
- Strong safety leadership and understanding of HSSE principles.
- Proficient with lab instruments such as Gas Chromatography, ICP, IC, titrators, spectrophotometers, pH/conductivity meters.
- Working knowledge of ASTM methods, ISO 17025, and water/wastewater analysis standards.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Self-motivated, able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
