Service Title: Legal Counsel

Purpose
- The Legal Counsel plays a key role in safeguarding the company’s legal interests while navigating the complexities of the offshore energy sector.
- You work closely with project and business teams, contributing to providing strategic legal advice that influences the direction of major projects either in the win, execute or operations phase and corporate initiatives.
- You provide accurate, relevant, and timely legal advice to the company on a variety of legal topics in support of projects in the offshore energy sector.
- You draft, review, and negotiate various commercial contracts and agreements, utilizing both standard company templates and industry-standard templates
- You provide legal support, assistance, and advice to the relevant business lines from early engagement through to the execution and operations phase.
- You manage and prioritize tasks effectively to meet deadlines, ensuring efficient delivery of legal support.
- You ensure compliance with all laws and regulations applicable to the business, safeguarding the company legal standing.
- You monitor legal and regulatory developments in the oil and gas sector that could impact the company operations, advising on necessary actions to mitigate risks.
- You contribute to the development and maintenance of legal templates and standard operating procedures that align with industry best practices.
- You communicate with and manage third parties such as external counsel, experts, and auditors in line with the company legal services procurement processes, including providing feedback on the legal panel's performance.
- You update the LC &C Leadership Team and key business stakeholders on key legal issues and risks, including lessons learned and areas for improvement.
- You stay up to date with changes in legislation and case law, particularly those laws, rules, and regulations that directly affect the aspects supported by your Legal Team.
- You contribute to training for relevant business lines and within the LC &C team, ensuring a broad understanding of legal matters.
- You work to mitigate legal risks for the relevant business lines, ensuring that legal exposure is minimized.
- You promote legal, compliance, and risk management best practices throughout the company, fostering a culture of legal awareness and adherence.
- LL.B. (Bachelor of Laws) or LL.M. (Master of Laws) degree or equivalent, with coursework in energy law, environmental law, or maritime law preferred.
- Admitted to the bar in a relevant jurisdiction.
- Fluent in English (spoken and written).
- 3-8 years of legal experience as in-house lawyer or in private practice, preferebly with experience in the oil and gas, offshore or energy sectors.
- Proven ability to manage contractual negotiations, competent in drafting legal documents, demonstrates sound ethical judgement.
- Demonstrated proficiency in core legal skills.
- A robust understanding of international contract law and the unique challenges presented by operating in offshore environments.
