General Purpose Rotating Equipment Specialist – Key Responsibilities The Specialist promotes safety, health, and environmental (SSHE) standards and drives mechanical reliability through troubleshooting, failure analysis, repair oversight, and collaboration with maintenance and engineering teams.

Technical Support & Troubleshooting
  • Lead first-pass troubleshooting and repair scoping for rotating equipment.
  • Support vibration diagnostics and repair decisions with Predictive Maintenance Technicians.
  • Maintain communication with planners, FLS, and Operations on equipment condition.
Repair Oversight & Quality Control
  • Define and validate repair scopes, procedures, and inspection requirements.
  • Collaborate with outside shop inspectors and approve SESs for vendor repairs.
  • Ensure repair documentation and specifications are accurate and accessible.
  • Oversee repair closeout and update equipment records.
Reliability & Failure Analysis
  • Conduct and review RCFA for equipment failures.
  • Maintain equipment history and support bad actor resolution.
  • Assist with spare parts specification and performance stewardship.
Project & Turnaround Support
  • Provide input on scope, equipment selection, and justifications for projects and T/A events.
  • Participate in installation, commissioning, SAT/FAT, and QA checks.
  • Support planning and execution of annual maintenance projects.
Preventive Maintenance & Strategy
  • Develop and update PMs and mechanical procedures.
  • Contribute to long-term improvement plans and equipment strategy.
  • Lead implementation of reliability initiatives and continuous improvement efforts.
Documentation & Records Management
  • Ensure proper documentation of inspections, repairs, and PMIs.
  • Steward final review and storage of repair packages and records.
Training & Collaboration
  • Mentor technicians and support operator training development.
  • Network with other specialists and share best practices.
  • Initiate and manage simple MOCs using appropriate systems.
Risk & Safety Support
  • Provide input for risk screening and safety studies.
  • Support field inspections and verification of identified risks.
