NES Fircroft is currently looking for a Turnaround Instrumentation & Electrical Planner to support our client in Sarnia, ON. This role will be responsible for planning routine maintenance and turnaround jobs across assigned refinery units. You’ll work closely with maintenance, turnaround, major project, and operations teams to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely execution of I&E work scopes.

NES Fircroft is currently looking for a Turnaround Instrumentation & Electrical Planner to support our client in Sarnia, ON. This role will be responsible for planning routine maintenance and turnaround jobs across assigned refinery units. You’ll work closely with maintenance, turnaround, major project, and operations teams to ensure safe, cost-effective, and timely execution of I&E work scopes.
Responsibilities:
- Accountable for planning routine maintenance and turnaround jobs in assigned units.
- Provide planning support for maintenance, turnaround, major projects, and capital projects when needed.
- Develop work scopes, execution methods, and detailed schedules with accurate cost estimates.
- Coordinate work execution priorities among maintenance, turnaround, and operations.
- Communicate detailed work plans with contractors, frontline supervisors (FLS), and technicians.
- Participate in turnaround reviews and manage follow-up actions.
- Support execution teams by clarifying job requirements and making necessary plan adjustments.
- Conduct field supervision to ensure safe, accurate execution of planned work.
- Manage procurement of goods and services and liaise with contractors.
- Maintain real-time awareness of job status in the field.
- Adhere to OI requirements including OHSA, WHMIS, site standards, and planning protocols.
- Lead contractor pre-job meetings and conduct safety inspections.
Qualifications:
- Journeyman Electrical or Instrumentation or dual ticketed
- Strong background in refinery operations with a demonstrated interest and aptitude for maintenance work.
- Proven leadership skills with excellent written and verbal communication abilities.
- Minimum 6–10 years of experience in planning in instrumentation and electrical scope.
- Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings, P&ID schematics, and technical documentation.
- Proficient in SAP, Primavera, or Microsoft Project.
- Familiarity with site management systems (LPS, OI, GRS) preferred.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate across multiple teams.
- Computer proficiency and ability to work within LAN environments.
