Position Summary
NDT Level II UTSW Technician
The NDT Level II UTSW Technician is responsible for performing nondestructive testing (NDT) methods including ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), and visual testing (VT). This role involves inspecting piping, pressure vessels, and structural components in both offshore and onshore environments, ensuring compliance with safety standards, industry codes, and client specifications. The technician also supports and mentors trainees and Level I personnel.

NDT Level II UTSW Technician
The NDT Level II UTSW Technician is responsible for performing nondestructive testing (NDT) methods including ultrasonic testing (UT), magnetic particle testing (MT), liquid penetrant testing (PT), and visual testing (VT). This role involves inspecting piping, pressure vessels, and structural components in both offshore and onshore environments, ensuring compliance with safety standards, industry codes, and client specifications. The technician also supports and mentors trainees and Level I personnel.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct UT Shear Wave inspections and other NDT methods on industrial equipment and structures.
- Analyze inspection data to identify defects or irregularities.
- Maintain accurate and detailed inspection reports.
- Operate and calibrate NDT equipment to ensure reliable results.
- Follow strict safety protocols and procedures.
- Mentor and guide Level I technicians and trainees.
- Communicate inspection findings clearly to clients and team members.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards such as API, ASME, and AWS.
- Assist with job planning, including equipment setup and execution.
- Travel to remote locations, including offshore platforms, as required.
- Minimum of 2 years of documented experience in UT Shear Wave inspections.
- Certification or eligibility for certification to ASNT-TC-1A Level II in UT, MT, PT, and VT.
- Experience in offshore and onshore environments.
- Strong analytical and reporting skills.
- Ability to mentor junior personnel.
- Proficiency with NDT tools and technologies.
- Willingness to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
- Valid driver’s license, passport, and ability to obtain TWIC card, Safe Gulf, and HUET Water Survival certification.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Team-oriented with excellent interpersonal skills.
- Commitment to safety and quality.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Eagerness to learn and take initiative.
- Work may be performed outdoors, indoors, and offshore, including over/near water.
- Exposure to high humidity, loud noise, intense lighting, and airborne particles.
- May involve working near moving or vibrating equipment and open flames.
- Elevated work surfaces and confined spaces are common.
- Must be able to lift up to 100 lbs occasionally.
- Frequent climbing, kneeling, crawling, and use of repetitive arm and hand movements.
- Constant standing, walking, and use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
