NES Fircroft is currently recruiting a Physical Chemist on behalf of our client, a global name in the agricultural chemical and technology industry. This is a contract position for an initial 12-month duration – though possibility of long-term extensions. Mon-Fri, 36hrs per week.

Working within a highly collaborative team of physical chemists, you will be responsible for measuring, understanding and modelling the physical properties that we use to help design and develop the next generation of agrochemicals.

Using a range of different techniques, you will demonstrate the flexibility, organisational ability and motivation to deliver high-quality experimental data to tight deadlines. You will also work with scientists from a range of disciplines to understand the challenges that we face, and to design and develop the new methods that ensure that physical chemistry meets the demands of a growing company.

What we're looking for
  • A PhD or good undergraduate degree in chemistry or a related discipline
  • A practical understanding of commonly used analytical and chromatographic techniques and technologies
  • Understanding of how the physical properties of compounds influence their behaviour in biological systems
  • Excellent attention to detail and the ability to critically analyse experimental data
  • Ability to design and deliver new assays, methods and/or approaches to overcome difficult scientific problems
  • Evidence of working closely with fellow scientists in multi-disciplinary project teams
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Ability to deliver high quality experimental results while working to tight deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
