Position Summary
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Piping Designer to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have experience in piping layout and design for industrial facilities and will be responsible for producing accurate and constructible piping designs using 2D and 3D CAD tools. This role involves close coordination with engineers, project managers, and construction teams to ensure designs meet project specifications, safety standards, and client expectations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop piping system layouts and detailed drawings using AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or similar software.
  • Interpret P&IDs, equipment drawings, and project specifications to create piping designs.
  • Perform field walkdowns and site visits to gather data and verify existing conditions.
  • Collaborate with mechanical, civil, and structural teams to ensure design integration.
  • Prepare bills of materials, isometric drawings, and support fabrication and installation efforts.
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes (ASME, ANSI, API) and client standards.
  • Participate in design reviews and provide input to improve constructability and efficiency.
  • Support project documentation and revision control processes.
Qualifications
  • Associate degree or technical diploma in drafting/design or related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in piping design for industrial or utility projects.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Plant 3D, or similar CAD software.
  • Familiarity with piping codes and standards (ASME B31.3, B31.1, etc.).
  • Strong understanding of mechanical systems, materials, and fabrication methods.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and schematics.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with renewable energy projects (e.g., biomass, solar thermal, hydrogen).
  • Knowledge of 3D laser scanning and point cloud integration.
  • Familiarity with project management tools and workflows.
