Position: Production Laboratory Superintendent
Location: Milan, Italy
Status: Residential
Start date: November 2025
Duration: 12 months renewable
SERVICE PURPOSE
Lead and manage LNG Laboratory activities within the LNG Plant, ensuring compliance with the applicable Company management system, regulations and standards, developing and assessing the Laboratory team personnel, in order to contribute to the optimization of Production processes and produce on specification LNG in a safe and timely manner to meet company targets and shipping schedules.
HSE RESPONSIBILITES
- Adhere to HSE and Company policies, Confidentiality, Compliance needs and Procedures.
- Promote continuously safety culture.
- Work safely, avoid any incident and dangerous situation, contribute towards continual HSE improvement, demonstrate safety behaviour for himself and others.
- Attend mandatory HSE trainings, refresher/expired trainings and apply them on site, ensure team and vendor compliance.
- Support to maintain and continually improve ISO 14001 Environment Management System requirements and other management initiatives.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Ensure safety of personnel, environment protection, and the technical integrity of equipment’s in his domain of activities, implement HSE rules and follow procedures.
- Ensure good housekeeping of Laboratory, offices, storages and site, maintain a clean and safe working environment, ensure equipment’s are appropriately stored.
- Participate in the near misses analyses, technical reviews, risk assessment, safety audits, RCA, incidents and accidents analyses.
- Formally record all laboratory downgraded situations.
- Control and monitor laboratory practices to ensure that the implementation is in accordance to the determined standards, policies, objectives, budgets, and schedules.
- Ensure availability of laboratory equipment, chemicals…for smooth functioning.
- Provide laboratory activities guidance that matches company objectives.
- Develop and update laboratory operating and analytical procedures.
- Review Laboratory design to ensure safe and accurate analysis.
- Review plant sample points design to ensure safe and representative sampling.
- Approve certificates of quality for the LNG shipments.
- Monitor the cargoes LNG quality and highlight deviations to Commercial & Shipping.
- Assist the Production team for stable plant operation, support process, Quality/Environment/Corrosion monitoring, troubleshooting, studies, simulations, investigations and advice for improvement.
- Ensure compliance to ISO 17025 Laboratory Quality System and ISO 14001 Environment Management System requirements and other management initiatives with aim to improve continually.
- Ensure proper recording of laboratory results.
- Care to hold secure any information and documentation which has been classified as confidential by MzLNG. This includes business plans, financial information, inventions, designs, plans, processes, machinery and apparatus used and experiments or trials.
- Control, monitor, and perform reporting for laboratory activities to ensure that the company management and the necessary authorities are well informed regarding the laboratory activities, within the determined timeline.
- Develop necessary reports to ensure that company management are informed accurately of the laboratory activities.
- Estimate the laboratory yearly operating costs and ensure no budget overrun.
- Assist C&P for laboratory related service contracts development and management.
- Defined the optimum laboratory organization in relation with the workload.
- Motivate, develop and evaluate subordinates to ensure they have the knowledge, expertise, behaviour and competency which is in accordance with requirement and able to support the achievement of target.
- Develop and implement laboratory specific training methodology to fill the gaps, ensure the effectiveness of the training and continuous improvement of laboratory staff competence.
- Prepare short term and long term strategies and request adequate resources to implement them.
- Discuss with and set up objectives on an annual basis for subordinates and review on a regular basis.
- Perform end of year appraisals.
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Excellent knowledge of the test methods and equipment’s used in an LNG plant laboratory.
- Excellent knowledge of ISO 17025 system & applications.
- Excellent LNG process knowledge and analytical skills to guide and advice production team.
- Excellent knowledge of HSE and Environment Management systems.
- Good knowledge of computer windows office applications.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND BACKGROUND
- Bachelor of higher education in Chemistry Engineering or equivalent with international standard and solid experience
- Minimum 20 years specific experience in oil, gas or petrochemical Laboratory
- Minimum 10 years in Senior Laboratory Positions
- Minimum 5 years in Laboratory of LNG production plants or LNG terminals
- Excellent leadership
