Our client is a leading nitrogen fertilizer producer in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, and the world’s largest seaborne exporter of ammonia and urea. Headquartered in Abu Dhabi, operates state-of-the-art production facilities across the UAE, Egypt, and Algeria, with a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and operational excellence.
Role Overview:
The Project Director will lead and oversee the execution of the project through to the successful Commercial Operation Date (COD) of the plant. This role demands a seasoned leader with a strong background in large-scale industrial project execution, stakeholder management, and team leadership.

Key Responsibilities:
Project Execution
- Ensure full compliance with HSE policies and procedures across all project phases.
- Oversee all aspects of project execution including:
- Engineering (final stages)
- Procurement
- Construction
- Manage and coordinate logistical requirements to support project delivery.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks through robust contingency planning.
- Secure all necessary permits and regulatory approvals.
- Monitor and control project costs and timelines to ensure delivery within budget and schedule. Leadership
- Identify and fill any vacancies within the project team as needed.
- Define clear targets, objectives, and responsibilities for all supervised staff.
- Foster a high-performance culture and ensure alignment with project goals.
- Maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Provide regular updates through structured communication channels including:
- Monthly Technical Committee meetings
- Steering Committee (SteerCo) meetings
- Ensure transparency and alignment across all stakeholder groups. Experience & Qualifications:
- Proven experience in managing large-scale construction projects with budgets exceeding $500 million.
- Background in industrial project execution is highly desirable.
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering is required.
- Master’s degree in Construction Management is a plus.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams effectively.
- Skilled in engaging and communicating with diverse stakeholder groups.
