Woodside Energy are seeking an offshore Senior Health and Safety adviser for a 9-month contract with potential to extend.

Scarborough Floating Production Unit (FPU) is currently in execute phase (construction and commissioning) with an expected start up in 2H 2025.  The FPU is the offshore gas processing facility of the greater Scarborough development.  In normal operations, the FPU will be minimally attended, remotely controlled from Perth, with campaigns to execute maintenance.  FPU provides gas processing, which includes gas separation, dehydration and compression, before transporting dry gas to shore for LNG processing.

The SCA FPU asset will be leaving China in October at the Sailaway milestone.  During Nov/Dec the FPU will be moved (sailed) to the new location in Australian waters off the coast of Exmouth.  Once on station in Australia, the project will commence the Hookup and Commissioning (HUC) phase (mid December). 

Woodside’s Scarborough HSE team is seeking an Offshore Senior Health & Safety Advisor.  Initial placement would be in the Perth Mia Yellagonga office from November for 1-2 months, transitioning to a 3/3 FIFO roster from Perth.  The contract is offered on a 9-month duration with the possibility of going longer. 

Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive Health and Safety guidance and analysis as required by the Scarborough Offshore HUC Team, including (but not limited to):
  • Intervene when unsafe behaviours or conditions are observed.
  • Ensure Health and Safety activities align with the Company's interests, facilitating delivery in accordance with the agreed Health, Safety, Environmental Management Plan.
  • Offer risk-based leadership, oversight, and coordination of Company Health & Safety operations.
  • Lead the Offshore HSE team in meeting site HSE requirements, processes, and programs.
  • Monitor adherence to Safety Case, HS(E) Management Plans, project-specific HS(E) procedures, and contractual obligations by both Company and Contractor teams.
  • Collaborate with Company and Contractor HSE teams to support site HSE needs.
  • Assist the Offshore HUC team with implementation of Company HSE Management and Verification Plans.
  • Conduct Company HSE training and awareness initiatives as necessary.
  • Promote a “One Team” project culture and foster a positive workplace environment.
  • Oversee management of event reporting systems for all project-related incidents, investigations, and actions.
  • Deliver technical Health & Safety advice and support to the Offshore HUC team.
  • Report on HSE matters to the Project HS Lead and Site Leadership team.
  • Maintain procedural diligence and actively contribute to offshore Health & Safety improvements.
 
Deliverables
  • Participate in "Ways of Working" workshops and onboarding training sessions with the Offshore HUC team prior to offshore mobilisation.
  • Engage in field leadership activities with the Offshore HUC team.
  • Contribute to and report on WEL Perfect HSE Day metrics.
  • Supervise assigned staff to uphold performance standards and operational excellence.
Skills & Experience:
  • A minimum of ten years’ experience in HSE within the oil and gas or construction sectors.
  • Formal training in root cause investigation and analysis (ICAM preferred).
  • Thorough understanding of relevant WA Work, Health & Safety legislation and offshore regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to continuous improvement and proactive problem-solving.
  • Proven ability to manage and influence multiple stakeholders.
  • Site-based construction experience within Australia.
  • Previous experience in offshore operations or contractor management.
  • Contractors must obtain written Company approval prior to changing any personnel. Once approved, the individual shall be designated as Key Personnel for this contract.
  • All personnel must satisfy the following minimum requirements:
  • Diploma-level qualification or higher in Work, Health & Safety or a related field.
