Qualifications:
- B.Sc. in Geomatics, Geodetic Engineering, Surveying, or a Higher Technical Diploma in Surveying and Mapping.
- Membership in a recognized professional institution is an advantage.
- Minimum 10 years of experience in surveying, with at least 5 years in the Oil and Gas industry.
- Expert-level knowledge of underground service mapping techniques across various ground conditions and utility types.
- Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in underground service detection and mapping using:
- Cable locators
- Scanners
- Ground Penetrating Radars (GPR)
- Proficient in field surveying equipment:
- GNSS
- Total Station
- Multi-station (MS60)
- Digital Level
- Strong understanding of multi-disciplinary engineering drawings and geographic data extraction.
- Skilled in survey data processing using:
- Trimble Business Center
- Leica Geo Office
- Proficient in AutoCAD for survey drawing preparation.
- Working knowledge of ArcGIS Desktop / ArcGIS Pro for geographic data visualization and analysis.
- Willingness to work long hours in challenging onshore/offshore environments and extreme weather conditions.
- Plan and conduct surveys to detect and map underground services (electric, instrumentation, telecom, fiber optic cables, pipelines) for GIS updates.
- Perform underground service detection using advanced equipment in operational oil and gas areas.
- Conduct survey work using GNSS, Total Station, and Digital Level.
- Process survey data, apply network adjustments and coordinate transformations, and prepare drawings in AutoCAD.
- Overlay surveyed data on existing facility data using ArcGIS and verify conflicts.
- Collaborate with field personnel, senior designers, and GIS engineers to identify and map services.
- Extract geographic data from multi-disciplinary engineering drawings.
- Maintain survey equipment and control points.
- Conduct dimensional checks for civil construction projects to ensure alignment with design drawings.
- Provide technical guidance for in-house and outsourced projects to ensure accurate survey methodologies.
- Review technical aspects of tenders related to surveying and participate in evaluation committees.
- Supervise and ensure quality assurance of contractor field activities and compliance with health and safety standards.
- Review contractor deliverables for compliance with contract requirements.
- Stay updated on technological advances in Geomatics and recommend applicable innovations.
- Develop and maintain procedures for topographical surveying and mapping standards.
- Witness and advise on LiDAR and other contractor-led data collection activities.
- Strong analytical and technical skills in surveying and mapping.
- Excellent communication skills in English (written and spoken).
- Ability to work independently and lead survey-related activities.
- High attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
- Adaptability to field conditions and long working hours.
