Case Study - Nuclear

Supplying nuclear staff to major player in the industry

We have a long standing relationship with a major player in the nuclear industry and we have placed candidates across several of thier sites.

The Client's Hiring Challenge

Our client’s competitors had secured a contract for long-term outage work and had also increased their rates on other sites, meaning contractors in this space were generally a lot less mobile and harder to source.

  • Some of the required roles were very niche - for example, Health Physics Surveyors are in very short supply, meaning a highly targeted search would be needed to secure relevant skillsets.
  • The work pattern can require forecasting labour management and coordinating between sites. This is particularly tricky for our client to do on their own due to their limited resources.
  • Some of the client’s locations are extremely remote, meaning the talent pool is very restricted, leading to a highly competitive market.

The Solution

We focused on building a strong relationship with our client based on trust. This was achieved through assigning a dedicated account management team and providing clear guidance in regards to escalation points, so that the client knew where to go for support or queries

Market Research

We undertook a market research exercise to take stock of when competing companies’ projects were due to complete. In doing so, we were able to maintain regular contact with candidates, understand their availability.

Social Media Leverage

For some of the highly specialised roles, to ensure we found the right talent promptly, we used non-traditional social media platforms such as Facebook to reach different audiences.

Value-added Services

We provided support with payroll, orchestrating medicals, overseeing security clearance processes and setting up an online timesheet process to implement an efficient onboarding process which eased the administrative burden of having a high number of workers on site.

IR35 Consultancy

Throughout the changes in IR35 regulations, our dedicated Account Managers visited all the client’s sites and provided consultancy on the regulation changes in advance.

Contractor Care

In an effort to aid staff retention levels and provide unrivalled contractor care we meet contractors face-to-face at least twice a year - we are the contractors’ first point of call and are available on call 24/7 in case a contractor has any queries or emergencies.

The Results

Our personal approach and appointment of a dedicated Account Management team have instilled trust into the client and contractors alike.

Our consultancy has maintained a harmonious working environment with high engagement levels, even through uncertain periods such as the IR35 rollout.

We are trusted us to manage all aspects of their contract workforce, enabling the client to plan and have peace of mind when it comes to finding the right workforce to drive their projects. The client has chosen to partner with us for a further 5 years and we look forward to supporting them with their future hiring needs.
