The opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, Liquids Leak Detection Engineering, the Leak Detection Engineer in Training will be responsible for supporting the design, development, deployment, and enhancement of leak detection systems and related technologies.

This is a role for someone who is passionate about turning ideas into actionable improvements to our systems, is customer focused, and innovative. We are looking for a dynamic individual who delivers, enjoys thoughtful conversations about problems and perfecting design but in the end knows that what matters is delivering reliable solutions. This individual collaborates and communicates effectively with a diverse team of experts and novices, has a keen focus on technical details, and is forward thinking. Demonstrated ability to create solutions from ideation to experimentation to delivery with a bias for action and no fear of failure.


What you’ll do:

• Design/maintain scorecards of leading and lagging performance indicators
• Actively collaborate with the Control Center, SCADA, cybersecurity, compliance, commercial, systems operations, engineering, field operations, and vendors to remain compliant with regulatory requirements
• Proactively leverage emerging technologies to enhance the leak detection program with a keen eye on opportunities to innovate the right way and at the right time
• Integrate new assets and leak detection systems into the leak detection program
• Provide 24-hour on-call support to the Liquids Control Center on a rotational schedule


Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree, certifications or equivalent experience, in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or related field
• Registered with APEGA as an E.I.T or ASET as a T.T
• 1-3 years of experience in application/software development work
• Experience in at least one programming language (i.e. Python, C#, SQL, Spark, Fortran)
• Excellent communication, presentation, collaboration, and relationship management skills
• Ability to juggle and reprioritize based on business demands and priorities 


Preferred Qualifications

NOTE: Applicants do not need to have the below qualifications to be considered for the role
• Experience with pipeline hydraulics and pipeline system operations
• Experience with Control Center operations, SCADA, Computational Pipeline Monitoring, Operator Training Simulators
• Evidence of strong software engineering skills
• Familiarity with data analytics, machine learning, artificial intelligenceWhat you’ll do:
