NES Fircroft are delighted to be recruiting a ‘Biodiversity Specialist’ on behalf of a market leading operator for their major LNG project in Mozambique.

Activities:
- Support and assist biodiversity lead with planning and implementation of the Projects overall BES program
- Support with Development and/or updating of BES management and monitoring plans/ procedures as required.
- Engagement with contractors ecological and biodiversity counterparts to ensure they understand and meet Project requirements in terms of project biodiversity commitments.
- Review and track project adherence to IFC PS6
- Support with overall management, set-up and fine tuning of biodiversity action plan that includes the project offset program.
- Oversee the maintaining of schedules and track deliverables related to Biodiversity management, particularly the offset program and biodiversity related commitments as presented in various project specific Environmental Management Plans.
- Assist with internal Biodiversity Working Group
- Assist with management and assist with tracking all IFC PS6 related commitments and develop effective communication tools.
- Assisting with planning and mobilization of biodiversity related surveys and actions.
- Provide input and support with environmental and social lenders due diligence processes.
- Assist with the development, review and implementation of Biodiversity Management Plans and Procedures.
- Promote Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services Policy and actions.
- Support environmental audits and implementation and tracking of corrective actions.
- Assist with development of biodiversity related training materials and roll out of such
- Assist with input in to reports on BES performance internally and externally (i.e., government, lenders)
- Minimum of 5 years of industry experience with at least 3 years of biodiversity related management experience.
- Post-graduate degree in Agronomy, Natural Sciences, Ecology, Biology, Biodiversity, Environmental Engineering or any related subjects.
- Knowledge of Key Biodiversity Areas and conservation related experience will be beneficial.
- Excellent working knowledge of the terrestrial and marine ecosystems, experience in tropical East Africa would be beneficial.
- Experience in monitoring ecological parameters would be advantages.
- Good understanding of IFC PS6 and lender requirements.
- Experience in managing onshore and offshore ecological surveys.
- Ability to learn quickly and apply knowledge to work demands.
- Strong interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in fast paced environments with autonomy.
- Ability to communicate to and engage with stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively in cross-cultural situations and with cross-discipline professionals
- Ability to develop a network with stakeholders (Academics, Institutes, NGOs…).
- Computer skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required, with working knowledge GIS beneficial.
