Civil Execution Advisor – Gathering

Location: FIFO to Regional Queensland
Roster: 19 Days On / 9 Days Off
Contract Duration: 12 Months (Initial)
Daily Rate: $1,150/day (inclusive of superannuation)

NES Fircroft has partnered with a leading global energy organisation to source an experienced Civil Execution Advisor for a major onshore gas infrastructure project. This position plays a critical role in the delivery of upstream infrastructure, specifically focused on gathering systems and associated civil works.
The role is responsible for the site execution and supervision of civil and gathering scope construction activities, ensuring compliance with design specifications, construction standards, and safety protocols.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervise field construction of gathering infrastructure and ensure work is performed in accordance with IFC documents and project standards.
  • Act as an Authorised Person (AP) for excavation and supervise other Competent Persons (CPs) involved in excavation and crossings.
  • Implement and enforce excavation procedures, including:
    • Verification of permits and third-party documentation (e.g. BYDA).
    • Identification and marking of underground and overhead assets.
    • Inspection of excavation areas for ground stability prior to work.
    • Application of correct soil testing and classification procedures.
  • Liaise with internal project stakeholders to confirm land access and coordinate entry permissions.
  • Ensure all contractor and third-party teams are adequately resourced and aligned to schedule and safety expectations.
  • Provide technical advice, issue resolution support, and construction troubleshooting.
  • Supervise high-risk and live excavations in accordance with company procedures.
  • Monitor contractor performance against safety, technical, and execution KPIs.
  • Participate in construction readiness activities including walkdowns, scope reviews, and handover documentation acceptance (MC-1, PC-1, SC-1).
  • Prepare daily reports and assist in QA/QC checks and completions.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, commissioning, environmental, HSSE, and other internal departments.
Experience and Skills Required
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in civil construction within oil & gas, with a strong focus on live asset excavation.
  • Demonstrated experience working with HDPE water and gas gathering systems.
  • Certificate III in Gas Supply Industry (preferred), or willingness to obtain.
  • Competency in key construction activities including squeeze-off, hot tapping, HDPE welding, N2 purging & testing, and flange management.
  • Knowledge in LPD & HPV excavation and installation.
  • Strong working knowledge of safety management systems and HSSE requirements in field-based environments.
  • Proven ability to manage contractor performance and compliance within contractual frameworks.
  • Ability to work with stakeholders including landowners, environmental authorities, and internal project teams.
  • High attention to detail and the ability to proactively identify and resolve technical and execution issues.
Additional Information
  • This role is offered on a FIFO basis, operating on a 19/9 roster from Brisbane or other designated travel hubs.
  • Domestic travel may be required from time to time.
  • The role supports delivery of upstream capital projects ranging in value from $1 million to $500 million across multiple concurrent scopes.
This position requires the full right to work in Australia.
